I'm rather dissappointed at how naive some people can be.

First, It is biological. There is no question that your biological makeup plays a role in your sexual orientation. Various studies have found key differences in either the genetics between gays and straights, or brain chemistry. The exact causes aren't known, but the evidence is there. Its not a birthright persay, but we are born either straight, gay, bisexual, transgendered or with a predisposition to one, we can't help it. All those who say its a choice, do some research for once.

Now just like straights we don't start life suddenly wanting to have sex with the next male or female that comes into sight. It isn't till puberty that most people, regardless of sexuality really start looking at their perferred sex in a sexual way. So for those that argue that its a choice because we don't act it early in life, thats just silly.

I"m not saying that ones environment doesn't affect how you grow up. It is entirely likely that something of that does affect exactly how strong your attractions and desires become. I don't know, there isn't enough information yet to say one way or another. But I certainly didn't have a real choice in the matter.

It certainly isn't a disease of addiction. Addiction requires you to have done some act to become addicted to. I'm gay, I know that, but I have never done a "gay" act. Therefore I can't be addicted, now can I?

You chose your own path, thats fine. And yes for some that validates the choice of being gay. But the fact is that most people don't choose to be straight, they just are. Most gays don't choose to be that way, we just are. Another way to look at it is the fact that homosexuality occures in dozens of animal species other than our own. Now, if you are one of those people who don't believe animals can make the same choices we do, then it stands to reason that they didn't choose to be that way, that isinstinct, a part of who they are, no choice or addiction involved.

I don't believe everyone can be cured of Homosexuality, I certainly don't believe we should try. Its alright that you have, it was your choice. You wanted to be faithful to your religion or perhaps just wanted to feel normal. I don't know if I believe that it really works or not, but if you think it does, then thats fine with me. If you feel better and more comfortable being straight instead of gay, fine. Maybe you weren't totally gay to begin with, but still had an attraction you found uncomfortable. Whatever the reason, its yours and yours alone. A great deal of us have accepted who we are and are comfortable with that. Allow us to be who we are and we will let you be who you are, or at least that's the idea, I know it isn't always practiced so well.

i'm a splash uncertain of using the notice "ailment" yet i don't think of its so hassle-free as a undeniable or no determination. that is starts off out as a decision then will become an addiction, which won't be in a position to be controlled. particular, you're making the determination to do something yet you do not have administration over no rely in case you alter into addicted. human beings don't understand that an addict won't be in a position to easily merely awaken & say "ok. i'm unlikely to shoot up right this moment or ever returned". that is previous typical reasoning that all people who's questioning exterior of the region can understand. that's the comparable with maximum unfavorable circumstances. somebody can quite tell a individual who's being abused that they ought to stroll away & think of they're stupid for not doing so. yet except somebody has been in that challenge they don't understand the carry it has over you. I grew up in a house with addicts. I not at all as quickly as believed that it became a *determination* for the guy I enjoyed to be hurting me. I knew it became previous their administration. I knew in the event that they might provide up merely as quite as asserting "no" they might have.

The doctors say it is a mental disorder. The Catholics say it is a sin. Who is right? Well the bible says that men should not lay with men but i think this was said because if all men were homosexuals then the race of man would cease to exist and he wants us to keep having children. God has a reason for everything he does and most of the time if you think of it in realistic terms it will become apparent to you. Take for example the passage thou shalt not covet your neighbors possessions. Why? Because in the old days( and even nowadays) this could lead to strife or even murder if you tried to take your neighbors belongings. It also leads to jealousy and hate. That is the what I believe God is getting at (Not that actually know). Does God hate homosexuals? No, but if we were all homosexual then who would have the babies?

It's part of the physical world. Most religions are based on the spiritual form of purity. These things should be put behind you not in front of you.(In a manner of speaking)

Its a complex question. We dont know about it but its there. If your serious about finding the answer then u must hurry to the library and read about evolution. Comparing bible with science is not the solution.

It's not a birth 'right' per se, your sexuality isn't a right or privelege. But it is something you're born with, like curly hair or six toes.

I don't believe you were 'cured' of homosexuality. Either you weren't really gay (maybe bi?) or you're kidding yourself now. Religion is good at brainwashing people.

I didn't understand it for many years and had my own opinion about it. I was wrong. I am taking a ministerial course that studies it in depth. It really makes me sad for those afflicted. Addiction has no mercy and no consciouses. Your very fortunate to have escaped.. stay in the word and God bless you and your family.

for those who have lost their concept of humanity...hate the sin, love the sinner.

its a choice nothing else. all these people CLAIM they are born gay, but that is all a load. you dont even think about being gay till wayy later in your life. your not born and instantly have an attraction to same sex. get real folks quit saying you were born gay, we all know its not true. you can like whoever you want to like nothing is stopping you.
