I have read several different comments from people who say they follow the bible, but not all of it. Then there are those who are homosexual, and believe in the bible, although it advises against it. I'm using homosexuality as an example, I'm not attacking that particular group. I actually have no problem with them. I'm not trying to insult anyone, but I would like to know how you justify going against Gods word or how you justify only believing in SOME of it. If you truly believe the bible is GODS word, then wouldn't you trust and follow it COMPLETELY?

I agree completely. Jesus himself says that he did not come to destroy the law. Therefore, it seems to me that the Old Testament is still quite relevant. I have never understood how people can just pick and choose what they want to believe.
That includes the New Testament as well. It specifically says in 1st and 2nd Timothy that women are to be silent and not hold authority over men in the church; yet hundreds of churchs around the world ignore this commandment. It also says in the New Testament that your body is equivalent to the Temple of Christ and that it is to be cared for as such, yet millions of Christians see nothing spiritually wrong with obesity, smoking and drinking--all things that damage the body. Paul also claims that it is perfectly fine to own slaves and to beat them--but modern Christians decry this part of the Bible. It is stated in the New Testament that Christ is the Way, the Truth and The Life and no man comes to the father but by me, yet the previous Pope, leader of the Catholic Church, said that people can come to God in their own ways.
Modern Christianity is full of contradictions and Christians who take what they want, what is easy, from the Bible and dump the rest. How could anyone with an ounce of spiritual integrity follow a religion like that?

Following the Bible is a weak and absurd way to live ones life. There is not one person on this planet who can truly say that they follow everything in the Bible. All Christians pick and choose from the Bible as they wish.

The Bible is not meant to be a manual on Christianity. It is filled with example of what others did and recommendations on how to live your life for those who are unsure. Follow Gods commandments and use the bible as a reference tool when you are unsure of how to proceed in a certain situation. Good luck and peace to you.

munkee, you hit that with pinpoint accuracy. I follow the book. Many religions omit preaching certain books of the Bible. And many of those religions add things that the Bible does not say. I do my very best to follow the Ten Commandments, and NOT do things that are convenient to me. You've asked a very good question, I give you a thumbs up!

Yes!! We have to live what we believe. It's not I, but Christ in me, right? That's what Paul wrote. If you really believe the Bible, that's it's God's Word, you will not mess around. You will end up looking like a fool if you try to form the bible around you, instead of you around the bible. We are Not Of This World, but chosen out of this world. Jesus says, "If you love me you will obey me". Thus, living by the Bible. Hope this helps. :)

It depends what you want out of life. I personnally want peace and love in my family and I read the Holy Bible to help me to see that I am taken care of and even loved by someone that will not emotionally abuses me. But, when it is someone that is different from me and or in different circumstances than I am, they will read the Holy Bible for their own needs like if all they want is money in their lives, like to be rich like the Bush family, then they will in the Holy Bible for ways for God to justify thier need for money. But, it is mainly up to the person themselves and what they want out of life. But, by going to the Holy Bible, they are at least paying attention to the teachings of God, the Father, and of Jesus Christ, the son and all the prophets and to the saints.

Now tell me, what do you think following the Bible completely would look like? Are you willing to sell all your possessions (computer included) and give to the poor? Or who actually loves their enemies? Do you know *anyone* who has done this?
