Strange thing, it even makes a difference in this world whether Alexander Pope said it, or Benedict Pope, or Bob Pope. (You know, Bob Pope from Columbus, Ohio)

But yes, it's probably true, almost anybody in this world has, at some point, said something bad about Islam.

Alexander Pope was better at commenting the sillyness of the reactions world-wide, to what some silly old man says:

"What dire offence from am'rous causes springs,
What mighty contests rise from trivial things"

Let's see... If all poets wrote only about poetry....

People of all persuasions are apt to become poets as well. Shall we say that people on Yahoo! Answers should stick to Yahoo! Answers? I have no idea what A. Pope said about Islam, but it is up to us to regard it seriously or not. We should not take away his freedom of speech simply because he is a poet, or because he says something we do not like.

LOL, you've watched that movie with Jim Carrey and the girl from The Titanic one time too many. Oh yeah, it was called Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. There was an Alexander Pope joke in that flick.

It wasn't Alexander Pope, at least not recently, though he may've insulted them back in the day. It was the current RCC Pope, Benedict.

I heard what the Pope said. He's right. Islam needs to rethink jihad. Get that notion out of their teachings that everyone but them should be killed because we are devils. It's alright for them to talk about us but you better not say anything negative about Islam.

I think that he said something bad indeed, but I think that he did it for common good. Many people have said something bad about Islam. And so has been said about other religions too.
