25 When the man saw that he could not gain the advantage over Jacob, he touched his hip socket; that put Jacob' s hip out of joint as he wrestled with him. 26 Then he said, "Let me go, for day is breaking." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go, unless you bless me." 27 And he said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob." 28 Then he said, "Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but instead Israel, for you have wrestled with Elohim and with men, and have prevailed." (Genesis 32:25-28)
some may say this wasnt god but an angel that jacob wrestled with but Elohim refers to the god of the isrealites many times in the bible, and the name he gives to Jacob (Israel) means "wrestles with God."
So what gives?
