Light travels at the speed of 186,000 miles per second, right? and travels through a vacuum, from the sun to earth for example..so what is it? For example, sound waves are easier to figure out...
1Timothy 6:16 (God) dwells in unapproachable light..(for humans apparently) James 1:17b..from the Father of the celestial lights. Any ideas on how Light rays travel?
Any scientist christians or any who know?

hey sapito. in the bible, God says he always was, I genuinely believe that...to me it is impossible that there was a time when there was absulutely no one...and like Jesus being the first born or beginning of creation, I believe that also....I cannot comprehend God not having a beginning, but saying he did not have a beginning makes sense to me.

Actually, light is a very confusing concept, but many of the greatest minds in physics have been studying it, and have determined that it is both particle and wave-like at the same time. (Einstein, Hawking, probably others.) Ask about this in the science section for a better answer!

Light doesn't have anything to do with God in particular. God created it, sure, but usually in the Bible, "light" is more metaphorical than actually talking about light itself.
Also, scietists know how light works as much as they know how everything else works. If you want to get into a discussion about Quantum Mechanics in general, and it's impact on Biblical scipture, then we're talking about a real debate.
Light, itself, is actually a complicated thing to describe to someone who might not have taken high-school Physics. So why don't you go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light

I will not give a complete answer to this question, but I would like to add some info........
Do you know that science has recently captured light and brought it to a stop? Oh Yes. Also that they then released it and increased the speed of it to a speed much faster than original.
You might search Google for more specifics, it is interesting....

It's actually quite simple. Light rays are made up of very small particles called photons. These are given off when an atom gives off energy and they are basically like electrons...this has been known for a good long while now...just so you know.

Light is composed of sub-atomic particles called photons. They are generated in the nuclear furnace at the center of the sun and stream out to us.
