It was the Council of Nicea's way of eliminating the feminine from God. Instead of properly including the feminine Sophia, they changed it to Holy Ghost to keep their mysoginistic ways going.
So, to repeat...the Holy Ghost is NOT a he...it is a SHE and her name is Sophia

The Holy Spirit is God: The same revelation from God that declares Christ to be the Son of Godalso mentions another member of the triunity of God, called the Spirit of God, or Holy Spirit. He too is equally God with the Fater and the Son, and he too is a distinct person.
The Holy Spirit is called God [acts 5:3-4] He possesses the attributes of deity, such as omnipresence [Ps 139:7-12] and omniscience [1Cor 2-11] He is associated with God the Father in creation [Gen 1:2] He is involved with other members of the Godhead in the work ofredemption [John 3:5-6; Rom 8:9-17
Titus 3:5-7] He is associated with other memberss of the Trinityunder the "name" of God. [Matt 28:18-20] Finally the Holy Spirit appears, along with the Father and the Son, in the New Testament benedictions [2Cor 13:14]
There is very much more, but this should give a serious questioner pause to reflect on their heart..God bless you with the gospel ofJesus Christ.....

He's not scary. =) First of all, God is three in one: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost (or Holy *Spirit,* as is more common to call it today); just as much as my mom is a mother, daughter, and sister all in one. So maybe you know already, but that means that Christians have only one God/the Holy Trinity. Anyways, the Holy Spirit aspect of God is that which seems to give faith and bestow sacred gifts upon people -- the Holy Spirit is seen almost everywhere in the Acts of the Apostles (a part of the Bible). The Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit after Jesus died, giving them faith and inspiring them to overcome their fears of their *own* possible crucifixions and preach the word of Jesus. The Apostles were suddenly able to speak in many tongues (languages) too, an additional gift of the Holy Spirit. It's kind of like God's evidence for us on earth, you might say.

This concept is pretty complicated. The Mystery of the Holy Trinity is called a mystery for a reason...it is impossible to understand. Now, that said, the best description of the Holy Spirit that I have heard is this. It is the love between the Father and the Son. Visualize any father and his son. Odds are there is a loving bond between them. The Holy Spirit is the bond between the Almighty Father and His Son. Confused yet?

Another description I have heard is that the Father is the giver, the Son is the gift, and the Holy Spirit is the act of giving. The Spirit is that feeling of fellowship and love that Christians experience. Just my two cents.

There are many misconceptions on the identity of the Holy Spirit. Some view the Holy Spirit as a mystical force. Others understand the Holy Spirit as the impersonal power God makes available to followers of Christ. What does the Bible say about the identity of the Holy Spirit? Simply put - the Bible says that the Holy Spirit is God. The Bible also tells us that the Holy Spirit is a Person, a Being with a mind, emotions, and a will.

The fact that the Holy Spirit is God is clearly seen in many Scriptures including Acts 5:3-4. In this verse Peter confronts Ananias as to why he had lied to the Holy Spirit and tells him that he had “not lied to men but to God.” It is a clear declaration that lying to the Holy Spirit is lying to God. We can also know that the Holy Spirit is God because He possesses the attributes or characteristics of God. For example the fact that the Holy Spirit is omnipresent is seen in Psalm 139:7-8 “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.” Then in 1 Corinthians 2:10 we see the characteristic of omniscience in the Holy Spirit. “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.”

The Holy Spirit is God, the third “Person” of the Trinity. As God, the Holy Spirit can truly function as the Comforter and Counselor that Jesus promised He would be (John 14:16,26; 15:26).

The Godhead is comprised of three beings which exist in complete harmony. They are the same in nature, but not in function. God the father is the big cheese. God the son, Jesus, created the world in aggreement with God the father and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit or Ghost, is the being who is ever present throughout the world and enables Christians to act beyond their natural abilities in preaching, facilitating miracles, and being active in their lives. He also moves the hearts of sinners toward God so that they may repent and receive eternal life.
You may say that God is three in one, the Trinity.
Mr. M on who is the Holy Ghost.

Ok, ok....There's the Godhead: God the father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit (Ghost..same thing)...He's not scary, he's an enabler, a helper, a comforter. when Jesus left the earth, He sent the Holy Spirit to continue his works in the earth, to help us interpret the scriptures, and intercede for us when we pray (cause sometimes we don't even know what to pray for). He's a spirit that lives on the inside of us, like our conscience...but in order to hear him, you must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
