Heaven? Hell?

One argument which I sometimes think about is if there is no afterlife, try to imagine ending. It is impossible to imagine never existing again, and you must wake up sometime.

Another may be that it is better to live without fear of an afterlife which may be on Heaven, may be in Hell, so it is better to not believe.

Having had 8 heart attacks and been cliically dead twice I can tell you from experience that 'something' occurs after we die. My last two heart attacks occured on the operating table and I can vividly recall the first time I realised I was dying.
I didn't meet Chalton Heston or travel down a tunnel toward a white light. What did happen is too hard to explain. I remember being in a place where I felt relaxed and comfortable
I knew as if somebody had told me that I was going back. I was also made aware 'that life is not a rehearsal, get on and live it'.
And one other thing 'there are no pockets in shrouds'.
I don't remember the second occurance but I came back alright.
The bit about going back and about not being a rehearsal explain themselves. The bit about the shroud is simple - a shroud is what you're buried in and has no pockets in it cos you can't take anything with you.
That was in 2002, my wife and I adapted our life style, lived for the pleasure it gave us and do all that we want to.
A week ago I had to have a heart test following on from some chest pains I have been having. I've now been told that I have five years or less to live. My wife and I are a little sad but accept that there is nothing to be done. We will continue our path as long as possible and adapt when we have to.
And before anybody asks. no we're not religious, we dont go to church but we belive in God and the hereafter.

See 1 Thess. 4:16-17 and you will find that Jesus will come and take His people back with Him to Heaven but not the wicked. Then if you will read Revelation 20, you find there are not one but two resurrections, the first for God's people that will go back to Heaven with Jesus when He comes, then after a thousand years there will be a second resurrection, those that were left at first that will die the second death. After a short time Satan and all his army that was just resurrected from the dead will try to take the Holy City and that is when God will rain fire down from Heaven and it will devour them, burn them up, put them to death, the second death that there will never be a resurrection from. Thus you see the words spoken to the Romans that the wages of sin is DEATH!! Not life eternal in Hell fire but death. I believe there is a heaven and hell, because I believe what the Bible has to say.

TO argue that it's better not to worry and so not believe in either seems like a very foolish thing to do. I mean seriously if there was a heaven and hell and you had to spend eternity at one or the other (based on what we know of each) you would think a person would actively try to find out what or whom determines where you go.

You're gonna think I'm nuts but here's my take on that. The sun is the creator of life. As the sun send it's goodies towards us life is created, which in my opinion the "goodies" are our souls. Which answers my question of why there are always more and more creatures in our world, you know it, it started with 2 humans now we're around 6 billion, the source, well...the sun and once we die, our bodies rot or whatever but our souls, which is in essence are energy from the sun. It is said that when people die their weight drops by 21 grams, something to think about. A hell or a heaven? probably just another life here on earth as soulful energy which as I've experienced can and will communicate with us. Energy according to physics can never be created or destroyed, it can only change form, we will all be forever and when life as we know it ends, our energies will be roaming the universe in search of a new home or contained in a black circle. Now that I've been tagged as a weirdo, it's cool, just had a little too much time to think about life and this is just what has made sense to me. enjoy.

There is an afterlife. And it is better to believe. I'm a Christian and if you don't believe. Satan pretty much owns you right now and you are destined for hell. That is a sad sad thing and I really don't want ANYONE to go there. But if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross for YOU and saved YOU from YOUR sin you get to go to heaven and have ETERNAL LIFE w/ Him. That is an awsome thing. But you can't just say that you are a Christian and say you believe because then you really dont' believe you have't to make it real! I highly encourage you to go to a Reformed Church and talk w/ a pastor. I hope that answers your question.

Heaven and hell are fictions created to make people behave as the state wants them to by creating fear (of hell) and hope (for heaven) even amidst the more dire circumstances of life. Death is part of life. At death, that's it. Finis. Over.

One argument that some people use in favor of heaven is that it will be wonderful to see old frends and family again. That may or may not be true, but the very idea of having to spend an eternity with the likes of Paul of Tarsus, Pat Robinson, Ann Coulter, and George Bush is hell for me--Living in heaven with that bunch would be hell for me, so I'd rather be in hell anyway, so heaven is not attractive.

Yes, one argument, used by Pascal, is that if it's not true, believing in heaven and hell will make you live a better life; and if it's true, then you will not have lived a good life in vain, as if somehow the reason people live good lives is not because living a good life is the right thing to do, but because of fear of punishment. Pascal recognized the role of H&H in making people behave, but he failed to see that living a good life is the rational thing to do (for if everyone is evil, then life is nasty, short, brutish, and filled with fear).

I think your first line of reasoning kind of explains why to some people there just 'has' to be an afterlife, because they can't imagine just not existing anymore. Personally, once I die, I hope that's all there is to it. I do have this fear, though, of reincarnation, not of ourselves, but our souls being reused in other people's bodies, so that you do wake up, but you wake up as someone else and no memory of having lived before. This might explain where the whole 'past lives' crap came from.

Um church control doctrine is heaven and hell....want your money in fear.
Actually there are 1.7 billion reincarnated spirits on earth at the moment , and human spirits actually never die. The heavens are graded as to how well we do on earth re what food we eat(no meat or fish) honour of the one true spirit and mainly being of service to others only ie doing to others as you would want done to yourself.

Heaven or Hell? Your heaven could be my hell! We are all individuals and if there is an afterlife it will all be different places for us. We can all attain different levels. Therefore as I said what coule be your heaven could be my hell. Have fun!

I believe that Heaven and Hell are intermixed. We create our own hells and paradises. For one the Playboy Mansion could be hell for others paradise.

I just hope that heaven is not boring or it'll be hell for me anyhow. Since there is no sin in heaven I doubt it.
