Absolutely. In 1962, the U.S. Supreme Court declared prayer in public schools illegal. The prayer was a rather generic prayer, going like this: "Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers, and our country."
Once we kicked prayer out of school, we also kicked the Bible out. Without even that small godly influence, many schools have since become havens for secular humanism and things that are anti-faith. Of course, this was part of a plan that began with humanists such as John Dewey, and others. They wanted to rid the U.S. of its Christian roots.
We can look to several indicators of what has happened since 1962 as they relate to crime, teen pregnancy, literacy, and many other social factors that have changed for the worse since then.
I have seen charts about this in David Barton's "Our Godly Heritage" video, which shows an exponential increase in all of these factors since 1962. Prior to the ruling, these factors had remained relatively steady since they had been recording them.
UPDATE for Taranto: Compared to the statistics that had been relatively flat for decades preceding 1962, crime (and the other stats) are higher per capita, even when you account for the population increase. The charts don't lie. It is on a per capita basis. Major crime may be down from even twenty years ago, but when compared to over 44 years ago, they are embarrassingly high.

God is a great invisible policeman. Goes everywhere sees everything. Sort of like Santa but different. Lack of faith may equal crime - because without some preacher yelling at them they can't concieve of the notion of being nice to thier nieghbor ..............I mean take the carrot and stick away and what do you have. Heaven and hell thats one heck of a carrot stick combo.
When people come to the conclusion there is no god the first thing they ask is whats the point? Whats the point of being good bad etc .
The point is that god and religion do not have the market cornered on common sense and community and social welfare. Being nice to your nieghbor dosen't have to be because the invisible policeman is watching but it is often the case.
Moreover when a society provides for all of it's members crime goes down when the syestems in place are percieved as fair crime goes down. Extremely poor countrys with a hudge division between rich and poor can be extremely religious and such but crime goes up and up.
God only works if you believe in her oops him and if you have a full belly you are less likely to steal bread.Christians who belive god will solve everything and leave people with little or no infrastructure are doomed to failure and the evidence of that is worldwide.

Depends on what kind of crime you are talking about, I think. I would say when it comes to crimes committed by people in power, that it is definitely related to a lack of faith. This is my opinion after seeing lawyers and bankers come after my grandpa's land for 15 years. I think they only had faith in their legal ability and their friends in high places.

I believe there is - as morality is evolving in our society to be whatever is between a person's ears - instead of a shared faith and value system - so if someone rationalizes that that car should be theirs or whathave you... and the faith and values haven't been in their life - there is little to stop them (other than the law!)

Just the opposite.
Mexico is 99% Catholic and has a much higher crime rate than anywhere in the region.

Absolutely!
Crime is often an act of despair. You have no hope for the future, so you act out against man.
Other times, the criminal has no fear of reprisal, and so places himself above other men, as a sort of demi-god themselves.

I don't think so. I suspect there is a direct correlation to the divorce rate and single parent families.
