We're having the entire backyard redone and the job costs $1200. If it makes any difference (not sure if it does or not), we're paying in cash. How much do we tip him? He has a crew of about 3 or 4 regulars working with him.

As I write this some kid is choking to death right in front of me. Should I help him, or should I call 911?.....You mean do it now?!

Why the hell do people seem waste time asking medical questions on here as they are bleeding to death? Yes, I am exggerating. They also ask about suicidal/abusive friends here instead of going to the proper people. ;)

I'm an office manager for a small company, and our computer area is a small office in the back of a warehouse area. My job involves taking a lot of calls from customers, making quite a few calls to vendors/customers, and daily tasks that call for accounting and reconciliation. However, it just seems that some people can't help but make noise - turning up the radio in the warehouse so that it's loud even in my office, singing along in even louder voices, and coming into the office shouting (about nothing, sometimes just "Good morning" or even random noises), before checking to see if anyone's on the phone. I've noticed this phenomenon in other places, too. Why are some people just "loud"? And how can I successfully get them to quiet down, without offending anyone? It causes me great stress!

It is a legit word describing a real medical condition but since people have used it degradingly some people are offended when it is used. Now they want you to say "mentally handicapped "no offense but to me that is a smart allek way of saying "retarded". People are what they are! You could change the word to pickles and people would still use it as an insult "you're pickled!" then all off a sudden I don't know how to order my hamburger anymore without offending the pickled person at drive through who can't do math.

I might as well say, ill take my burger with spit please!

Do you think that in our society rules of public behavior or manners should be taught in school? I thought it should be the responsibility of the parents, but now days it seems that system is failing. People are becoming more rude and obnoxious. Would you encourage the school your child goes to, to open such a class (teaches the manners behind the table, how to be polite etc etc)

I am over 25 but this was something I am just looking to understand.

Car rental companies seem to not want to rent to people under 25. They charge them a surcharge if they are under 25. Also, its nearly impossible for them to rent to someone under 21 unless they are under government orders.

I'd like to know what these government order look like. Does the rental agency know what they look like? Do they photocopy them or just look at them? Can you tell them not to photocopy them due to security issues? Could someone make these types of documents, if under 21, and get a rental car? Will a car rental company rent to a military member under 18?

I just want to know how this who thing goes about. A friend of mine and I were toying with the idea that an 18 y/o could walk into a rental agency with a fake DL that has all their info correct except for their bday, saying they are 25, with fake military orders, and get away with it. I say its possible. Right?

I work in a small, open office space with about 20 people. One woman in particular wears a TON of perfume. You can smell her coming in from OUTSIDE and it lingers all over the office. I don't consider myself 'sensitive' to smells but its just really offensive and overpowering. How do we tell her to tone it down for the office without causing hurt feelings?

People frown on the fact that interviewers ask about salary during an interview, but let's face it, it's highly important for most people. Waiting until you're offered the job only to find out that it's $5,000 less than what you made at your old job is a complete waste of time. Therefore, when is the appropriate time to ask?

I must have one of those faces. People always think I'm someone they know. I had one man who thought I was his childs school teacher, a woman who ran up to me and hugged me in a department store asked how my husband was (I wasn't married), an old man who tried to convince me I was his neice (i call him uncle Jerry now) even a guy who spent a half hour trying to convince me we had 'slept' together. Most recently while at a truck stop with my boyfriend the cashier kept watching me...I thought she thought I was going to try to steal something...when we got up to the register she said "Did you see me looking at you? I thought I recognized you from prison!" The look on my boyfriends face was priceless. She quickly added "I worked at the prison and you look exactly like a girl who worked there with me!" Does this happen to you? I want the stories!

I recently made a new friend that I see often around campus. He began squeezing or patting me on the shoulder and I explained my aversion to touch.

He became offended and told me he didn't "mean anything by it".

I explained that while I understand that, I still don't like to be touched.

Today he came up behind me in the library and wrapped me in a hug.

What can I say/do to make him STOP?!

I am in charge of planning our office party for this season. My boss wants to invite spouses/significant others to join us, however he's not a fan of one of our used to be part-time husbands (she no longer works for the company, but left on great terms and still comes in to help once in a while). So he's can't decide what to do.

I think it should be spouses and what not, but I know that my boss really doesn't not get along with this guy. What can I do that won't cause a fight or make everyone uncomfortable?

in 2004, my boyfriend gave me his moms engagement ring as a 'promise/engagement' ring. We had just graduated highschool so he didnt have the money for his own. I knew beforehand he was going to give it to me, cause his mom couldnt keep a secret, so i was not at all surprised when/where he did it... in fact, his mom told him where & when she thought it was best to do it, so it wasnt even HIS original idea. I pretended i had no idea.

About 2 weeks ago i felt bad about making him feel bad (i have some anger issues from being abused as a child i am working through with a counselor, i dont yell or get abusive but i pull back from people around me) I was tired of hurting him, so i took off the ring and put it on the night stand. We made up a couple of hours later.. i didnt want to just tak the ring back do i told him if/when he wanted to.. he could

I texted a friend today saying how i still dont have the ring back, and how i was getting worried because its still just
