My boss is one of these guys who really gets a kick out of being "the boss". He is more worried about figuring out what the rest of us are doing than he is his own job. You can't even see his desk because there is so much paper on it. He goes to meetings and promises people that he will take care of something, and then does not follow up on it. Because people aren't getting what they need from him, they come to me for help. More times than not, I help them out so we as company don't look bad, but it's gotten to the point where I'm doing half his job for him! He's supposed to be my boss, but I constantly have to remind him what needs to be done around here. It feels as though he isn't worried about his own tasks because he knows that I will remind him, or do it for him. It just doesn't seem fair to me. He makes more money than I do, but I do twice the work! Do I suck it up and be a team player, or do I diplomatically confront him (or his boss?) about it?

I was going around wipeing a few cubicles for our company party later tonight, and one of the guys i work with asked me to go wipe down his furniture.. He said " you can wipe down my desk and stuff to, or are you going to ask me to do it myself?"
What should i have done?

I just think this guy really has no manners there has been a few instances for example: i was moving a big box of water obviously too heavy for me and he walked right by me, didnt even offer to help.. he eats everything i mean everything... there were cupcakes in the kitchen obviously for one of the girls b-day (there where balloons in there too that said happy b-day) and before she even walked in the door, or before we even sang happy b-day he had alredy had two!... is it just me or what?

I was watching I Love New York 2 Reality TV Show the other day . The men were asked to make a plate of food and the best cook would get a date with her that night. Well as I was watching it she was eating from each plate and one dish was handed to her and it was a hot dog. When she and her mother saw the hot dog one of them yelled out THIS IS SO WHITE TRASH. Now I feel as if that was a racist remarks. White trash is a derogatory term with a classist component targeted at white people with low social status, poor prospects, or low levels of education. To call someone white trash is to accuse a white person of being economically, educationally and culturally bankrupt. .Now I have to ask how is this any diffrent from what the Dog had to say..I am stressed over the matter .I was called white trash from a african american ..Now remind you if a white person said this it would be no big deal as it is no big deal for a black man tto call another black man the N word.

OMG this is taking things to far in my opinion. Soon nobody is going to be able to speak at all because of the fear of offending somone, and it will be a very dull and silent world when that happens. what happened to freedom of speech? Leave Santa alone, if you get offended at him saying ho ho ho then maybe you should really look at yourself and the life style you live because if you where not living a ho's life style then you should not get offended when it is said by of all people Santa Claus. lets all focus on what really matters, like how broke America is becoming by sending things we could really use here, over seas and not recieving a thing in return.

... who had worked on me that day was standing there at the front desk. I did not have much money since I was a single mom, unemployed, full-time student. My plan was to hand them the gift certificate, say thank you and leave. However, the receptionist caught me off guard when she took the certificate and said. "Okay, thank you. That will be all unless you would like to leave a tip." I felt put put on the spot and humiliated in front of everyone. I mumbled something about having to go get my purse and left. What to do?

I just read in an article (http://msn.careerbuilder.com/custom/msn/careeradvice/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=1173&SiteId=cbmsnhp41173&sc_extcmp=JS_1173_home1>1=10563&cbRecursionCnt=1&cbsid=98c012b354b84a1795e1bc8e0f3ede80-248432749-JP-5) that said you should never dress better than your boss. Who agrees with that? If your boss dresses like a slob, "bamma", etc., does that mean you should downplay your attire or style. Personally, I dress for success. I don't try to outdress anyone.

We have students taking an exam and the other professors are loud and carry their conversations out in the hall ways.

They are loud and I dont think they realize that people can not concentrate with them carrying on.

I am the only office staff here. I find sometimes I can not concentrate they mingle and talk about work issues very loudly and close to my desk area.

I do not ,know how to ask somone in a higher position to be quiet.
I have tried, they talk when I am on the phone very loud. And I have looked at them like they are crazy and rude.

I do not smoke, I do not drink alcohol, I do not go to bars.
Anyone who does not do any of these are they considered to have good habits and qualities compared to anyone who smokes, drinks and do drugs. I argue with people who drink and smoke abd they say that I am not normal, something wrong with me. Not smoking, not drinking does not make you a good person or person with good qualities.
What is the right answer/

My father recently passed away. My friend/acquaintance came to the funeral home and I appreciated that. This so-called friend recently met a guy on the Internet and that is all she talks and thinks about. At the funeral home, she asked me if I was dating anyone and I said no. She proceeded to ask, "aren't you even trying?" And I replied again with "No." Obviously, at the time I did not say anything because I had more important things on my mind. But I am still a little bothered by my friend's question at such an inappropriate time. She even called me a few days after the funeral ceremony and kept up with the same questions. I replied, as I have many times, even before my dad passed that I have been happy the past three years being single. I am kind of mad and have not returned her calls or emails for a few weeks. Am I being silly? BTW, we are adults, not teenagers. I am 32 and she is 27. But I feel like I am back in junior high school when she starts this dating talk.

Okay.. I've been driving my friends around A LOT! From school, mall, movies, bowling, friends house and back, eating, etc etc. Honestly at first I didn't mind but I'm getting annoyed they're not offering to pitch in for gas money. When we hang out tomorrow I'm just gonna bluntly say it. I mean sometimes they buy me lunch, but we eat at cheap places like Mcdonalds for $3 at most. But yeah when I ask do I say how much I need or what? What's a reasonable amount? I probably drive them around for maybe 30~45 minutes on the weekends?

Is it just me or are people generally becoming more oblivious to everything around them? I could list pages of examples that I've noticed recently, but to sum it up, whether it's the person at the movies talking on their cell phone, the guy at the checkout counter who's trying to pay with one hand while holding the cell phone with the other, or the person driving 20 MPH less than everyone else, a vast number of people seem to be to busy "starring in their own movie" to realize how ridiculously loud and rude they are being.

Unless you are a Doctor on call, do you really need to have that conversation right then and there? It's almost guaranteed that you cannot go to any gathering of people whether its social, work related, school related, religous, etc... and not have at least 1 cell phone go off! It's happened at every wedding and funeral I've been to. Is there any chance places will start banning non-emergency cell phone usage... or is the problem the PERSON, not the phone???

I am swimming later this year in P.E. I have seen other kids already take this, and I see some where boxers. What's the point? I mean, I've never seen, but don't they have to strip out of them to get their regular clothes back on? If they don't and wear wet boxers, who would do this? You don't want chaffing and blisters. I don't get it.

The dress code is business casual. You can wear suits if you would like. During my first week of work, one of my co-workers told me I didn't have to wear pantyhose (I was wearing a skirt and hose). She will wear pant suits, but will wear low-cut shirts under it. Basically, she doesn't dress all that professionally, and some of the other ladies that I work with are kind of laid back on their attire.

So, is it better to dress like your co-workers to fit in the environment? Or, to dress conservatively and follow the saying: Don't dress for the position you have, dress for the position you want?

In the workplace, stereotypes can be formed and work images are formed based on dress and appearance. I just want to give off a professional image. Thoughts on that are also appreciated.

It isn't a problem at my current residence- but at the place we used to live, it was.

We had these lazy, cracksmoking b*stards for neighbors, whom liked to play their rap music EXTREMELY and EXASPERATINGLY LOUD even in the WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING. I am talkin' 3 am, here, folks.

We called the cops on 'em. But then, the dude next door had the audacity to actually come up to me as I sat in my car, and asked me to just come to his house and knock on the door and TELL him if the music was too loud.

What the fudge? Can you believe this?

Anywho, if it ever happens again, what should I do?

How do you deal with idiot neighbors?
