Manners are "contagious". Sometimes it takes only one dominant person in a group to set the mood (good or bad). Continue being pleasant and polite and more and more people will be like you. It may not change overnight so don't give up.

eurgh higher education job? Poor you. I'm in uni and I've got an assignment in tomorrow - there are lots of deadlines coming up, which means students are stressed and tutors are wound up over the impending pile of marking they're gonna have to do. If you're in the UK as well, you'll know it was incredibly icy this morning, so people probably had to get up earlier to de-ice their car or to make sure their train wasn't cancelled into work. That extra 30 minutes sleep makes all the difference!
Don't let it get to you - it won't be anything personal! Give yourself a little treat tonight to compensate a crappy day!

Hey it's a fast world we live in and if you don't keep up the pace, then you get left behind. Unfortunately lack of sleep and low tollerance have a lot to do with it!!! Also people just don't really care about others feelings any more.

Must be the weather, time constraints, personal concerns, you pick it. On top of that, how're you feeling? I get a little grumpy when the weather changes, don't feel well, have too much on my plate, etc, so I have a lower tolerance on those days.

Really? Maybe I shouldn't even leave my house today then! I was gonna go to work, but putting back on the jammies and crawling back into my still warm bed sounds a tad more inviting! Thanks for the heads up!!!

I think a lot of it has to deal with the "feel" outside. If its a "cheerful" day outside they seem to be in a better mood. At least where I am at.
