Do you find this term offensive? Not so long ago people would just say that the relationship ended which can happen to anyone and is part of life. I thought only rubbish gets dumped? And also I've heard of unfortunate animals literally getting dumped in rubbish bins - very sad. But people always have much value even when feeling rejected so why use this belittling word?

I feel like when someone does wrong, they deserve a second chance, but if they do it more than twice & keep apologizing & keep doing it, then they just use "sorry" as an excuse to do it again.

No doubt I will get hails of abuse for posing this question...

In my mind, the internet should model the real world. I.E. people should treat each other with the same respect they would expect in outside world.

Now...lets say you have a conversation with someone in a bar. If you felt their grasp of vocab or pronunciation was not to standard, would you start abusing them?

I would hope not.

What if you go into a restaurant and look at the menu. Then you notice there are spelling mistakes. Would you start calling the owner a retard, or tell them to get a dictionary?

Again, I would hope not.

So why is the net different. In my view, its because you can't see the person. Its easier to be rude to an image or message on the monitor, without associating it with a real computer.

Also about 1 in 10 people in the real world would pop you one on the nose...

just my opinion...

now I think I'll wait for replies full of spell checks....

A friend & neighbor threw a 60th b'day party for her dad, indoors on a winter evening. Grownups & kids. About 30 min into the party(after we'd had appetisers), some guests came with a dog.
I am really scared of dogs. This dog was loose, running around, and really bothering people while owner/hosts looked on. It was pulling on my skirt, and trying to reach my plate while I was literally hanging on to my husband.

The hosts made feeble attempts to confine it to a room or put it on a leash. They were as surprised as me, but couldn't say anything as dog-owner was an imp. business client. 20 min went by. Dog still loose, running wildly.

No room I could hide in. I told the hostess I'd slip out for a while, take my toddler to see Xmas lights, and be back in time for cake. She was very offended. I gently but firmly left the party. Came back 1.5 hrs later. Apparently, they had managed to get the dog out of the way for cake cutting.
She is still pissed off. I think I did my best. Did I?

I dont like her anyway. but it was nothing real personal, it's just I came in 20 minutes one day, and she gave me my lunch almost two hours late. State law requires that we have our break no later than 5 hours into our shift, and it was 5 hours and 45 minutes, when i usually get my lunch 4 hours in.

So I reported her to HR and said I was putting in my two weeks. Now my other supervisors are telling me please don't quit, and i said okay. Now that I've decided to stay, I am afraid of what this lady that I reported is going to do to me in retaliation. She knows i reported her and said "She came in late." But I wasn't late enough to justify that kind of late lunch!

I wouldn't have reported her, except that other people's breaks and lunches were really late. And when I told her my lunch was so late, she didn't say sorry, or thanks for understanding. she said "Well, that's what happens when people call in sick and when people show up late." What kind of an answer is that?

Girl at work just will not stop talking. Everyone talks to her,we would not be nasty but people try to avoid her now. She is aware that she has verbal diarrhoea and we are up front with her&tell her enough is enough but still it goes on and on.

Do we have to get nasty? We cant get any peace when we have a break/lunch hour. Any suggestions before we do the drastic move of sticky tape over the mouth? She is driving us mad...

I was walking to get in line and this lady, saw where I was going and ran up and cut in front of me and put her stuff up on the belt. She had less then I had, so I let it go. But then she gets up there and realized she forgot something. Instead of her telling the cashier to cancel the order or to cash her out, she runs back to get what she forgot. The cashier being the idiot that he was waited for this women until she got back which had to have taken a good ten minutes. She comes back with a new basket full of stuff. So she goes to pay for her stuff and her card doesnt work. I guess the cashier didnt want to say out loud that she didnt have enough money in the bank, so he kept saying it didnt go threw. Until she wouldnt stop trying to use the card and he had to tell her. Even though I know she knew she didnt have any money in the bank. Why do people act like this?

There's a guy at work who is just long winded. His emails are long. He's terrible at meeting. He uses a lot of empty phrases. He likes to talk about what he saw on TV . He can turn a summary about 30 min show into an hour! He's a really nice guy, he just talks way too much! What can I do? I need help. What can I do to escape the conversations?

me and my hubby have sex 3-7 times a week and we live in apts. My neighbor of 7months (upstairs) is a single woman. My hubby mentioned abt 4 mos. ago, just in conversation, that our neighbor gets an earful so i started getting a little reserved with myself and feel like i can't enjoy my self a s much b/c i feel like this may bother my neighbor. my husband, on the other hand gets turned on even more when i moan and stuff but now it's hard for me to let go unless i know she isn't home which is rare b/c we are home at the same time most of the time, at night, which is when we usually can do it b/c our kids are asleep then and they are sound sleepers. I know my neighbor isn't more important than my hubby but she's okay by me and i don't want things to be miserable for her being that she has no one, but my hubby says let myself go. Don't get me wrong i haven't shut down completely but sometimes i hold back a little. Is this the right thing to do?

When I was in the fourth grade (1994-1995), our elementary school music teacher made us learn the national anthem (Star Spangled Banner) because we were going on a field-trip to watch an orchestra perform and they began the concert with the national anthem. When practicing, she taught us something that I have remembered to this day: it is rude to clap at the end of the national anthem. "Even if everyone around you is clapping, you shouldn't clap." It always stuck with me because ever since then I find myself adhering to her rule, but of course, EVERYONE always claps at the end of the national anthem. I don't want to seem rude by not clapping, but I want to follow the proper etiquette. I tried looking online for national anthem etiquette and all I can find is that we should stand and take off hats/caps during the song. Has anyone ever heard of the etiquette about not clapping? Is it an old rule that no one follows anymore so it's okay to break it? Comments?

I am meeting my boyfriend's parents next month in Korea. They are delighted that I am coming and this will be a very informal visit. I am a young Chinese girl who is not sure what to bring as a gift to their household. I live in Wales but I will be stopping in Hong Kong so should I get some authentic Chinese items or will plain fruit and flowers do?

How do you treat people you are jealous of? Do you get mad at them?

"Respect your elders."
I was joking around with my best friend (we're 13), who is 6 months older than me. You know how friends aren't exactly polite to each other all the time? When I said something to her (i forgot what it was) she just said, "Respect your elders," as a comeback. Haha.
So does a few months count? A few years? Or what exactly makes a person an elder?

i spent time and patience on buying a very special person several gifts. either they are really stupid, really idiotic or just selfish and uncaring. What t's me off, i spent alot of time picking out, hand picking out each thing, and didn't buy all these things from a .99 cent store. these were gr8 gifts. why no verbal thank you or a typed or handwritten response is beyond me. i am very mad and angry! not so much on how much i spent by by how this person never thanked me. should i confront this person and tell them how angry and upset i am or should i just leave it alone and wait for a response and could be over reacting? right now i am on fire! if someone took the time and thought so much of me to do this for me, i would be thanking them up the wazoo!

Im in ninth grade and im kinda reflecting here. Why are kids sooooo stupid? what im talking about are the kids who pick fights for stupid reasons, walk around with an oversized ego, make a stupid face (tahts cool to them) and hold some stupid gang sign when they take a picture, and speak with the word "cuh" or "nigguh" or "bluh" or wahtever. I mean, hey, i have no problem that they act like that, its their prerogative, but what bothers me is when they criticize other people just for not being posers like them. its not the way they dress and look that bothers me, its the way they act towards people! it just makes me wanna punch them so hard. i remember i had a friend who got a girlfriend, but the girlfriends friends always told her that he wasnt good enough just for her just because he didnt act that way, dress that way, etc. I deno, i just think its kinda stupid and i wanted to type it out. So if you actually bothered to read this whole thing, congrats, now give me your opinion

alright, so i'm a teenager, there are people all around me smoking, drinking, sleeping around and doing god knows what else ... but not me! in fact, i've a lot of friends who smoke, they've never even bothered to ask me to, and even if they had, i think i'd ditch them - those aren't friends!

do you think people really give in because of 'peer pressure,' or is that some pathetic excuse to be 'cool' or rebellious? can we even blame peers, don't you think the blame falls on US?

I hate to admit it, but the first thing I always notice from a hot girl is her racks. Especially if her "cut" is "revealing".

I know it's not considered polite, but I cannot avoid it. I always stare at her breast first before I start the conversation.

What should I do as a true gentlemen here? I don't want to offend anyone, so any good advice here? Could anyone share its personal opinion or similar experience here? About girls and their racks?
