I treat them with courtesy, as I will not sink to that level of crassness

Mad? Why would I be mad at someone who has what I want? I'd rather find out how they got there so I could follow their advice! And I don't get jealous of something they were just born with (like looks, talent, etc.), I'm just happy for them! Jealousy will rot you from the inside out. Instead, try to improve yourself so you'll like yourself enough that you won't waste valuable time looking at what others have that you don't. Jealousy is ugly. And it will make you ugly..

I treat them with respect. I'm not a very jealous person--I think I realize that people have different paths in life and that it's foolish to waste time on jealously.

I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but it's what I've learned in life.

I am not really jealous of anyone, I used to be, but as I matured I realized that everyone has their own problems, no matter how great they make themselves out to be.
And everyone is different, so I treat everyone friendly, unless they treat me badly, in which case I avoid them.

Jealousy Is a very hard thing to overcome. Once it gets the best of you its like a monster taking over your body. So I would say try to sympathizes with that person and reassure them that it is only a matter of time till they will feel different. Maybe suggest some kind of therapy to help them over come their jealousy issues.
I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you.

In all honesty, I left jealousy back where it belongs - in kindergarten. I treat people the way I expect to be treated, at least until they do something really nasty to me. There are too many more urgent things going on in my life and my mind to bother with worrying about others on that level.

You walk away. There is no point in getting mad, just walk away...
