I am meeting my boyfriend's parents next month in Korea. They are delighted that I am coming and this will be a very informal visit. I am a young Chinese girl who is not sure what to bring as a gift to their household. I live in Wales but I will be stopping in Hong Kong so should I get some authentic Chinese items or will plain fruit and flowers do?

If you live in Wales, bring them something from there, this way you are giving them a little something from your part of the world. I can tell you from experience that I love gifts from where other people are from. Something as small as a bar of soap that is popular in Wales, will be more meaningful that a gift that they could have bought them selves. Wine is always a good gift too. And I'm sure no matter what you give them they will be greatful.

I would go for the authentic Chinese items. Don't get to carried away you don't want them to like you for your gifts or want them to think your trying to hard.

Ask your boyfriend what he thinks his parents would like as a friendly gift.

I would be careful about carrying perishables from one country to another because of going through customs. So ask pointed questions about a gift for your new family.

Good luck!

Did his grandmother like the candies? (because of the fact, according to risk his mothers and fathers might like them too. We dare no longer bypass to husband's family members without bringing candies very practically each and every time!) I agree that a pub is an ungainly place to convey cumbersome presents like flowers or a house plant. you ought to offer to purchase a pre-dinner around (or aperitif) or to handle for an after dinner drink or espresso and dessert. they could refuse the gesture however the supply will probable be favorite. as quickly as you get to appreciate a sprint approximately them, you need to use that as clues for presents. stable success (and remember to respire! they're his mothers and fathers; they love him, he loves you....)

Flowers are always good. Another idea is a nice bottle of wine (if they are wine drinkers).

Why don't you bring something from your country. Or something they can't get in Korea.
