My job title is assistant key holder. But I was told by a colleage that HR staff/ hiring people don't like to see the word "keyholder" on a resume or cover letter because:
1. it doesn't look as important as manager
2. they may have no idea what a keyholder is

Are these true?

Secondly, he says I should drop the "assistant" and just put something along the lines of "store manager". What is your take on this? Should I listen to him, or just write Assistant Keyholder in my resume and cover letter?

Mind, this is for an Administrative position(Admin Asst, Receptionist, etc.)

Yesterday, I received a call around mid-afternoon from a surveyor who wanted to ask about my political views, about 15 minutes later though after I hung up, it hit me that I had registered my cell number last July on the "National Do-Not Call Registry", and I was wondering if that would be just as much a violation as a telemarketer calling?

I'm not planning to take any action now, since I should of complained about them calling my cell phone right then and there, but for the next time could I file a complaint?

I've received opposite answers so far on the subject from my friends, some have said yes, while others have said that the surveyors are exempt from the Do Not Call List.

An old friend called me this morning and asked me if I'm doing anything for my birthday, which is today. I told her no and she asked me if I'd like to go out to dinner tonight with her and some friends. She then proceeded to ask me where I would like to eat and I suggested Red Lobster. She didn't mention anything about who would be paying for my meal, so I assumed she was, based on the way she was talking. This afternoon she called me again to set a time. I asked her casually if I would need to bring money and she said that each of us would pay for our own bill. Unfortunately, I'm broke. I don't know how to tell my friend that I was under the impression she would be paying. It would be nice if everyone chipped in to pay for my meal, considering it is my birthday and they invited me. Am I right in thinking this?

i have a situation at work where clients just dont seem to care about our (employees) personal time...they do things like if i tell them someone is on vacation they say "well can you get in touch with them and have them call me?" then i reiterate (politely) THEY ARE ON VACATION or if someone is at lunch when they call and i take a message and then they will call the person at lunch on their cell phone....or if we lock the doors to take a break for lunch but dont leave they will knock on the door and expect us to open for them....how do i handle these situations/people?...are we not allowed any personal time for lunch? and why do people not respect that time for us?

I am home for the summer from my beloved university and I have encountered some serious problems that are really hindering my stay at my house. first off, my stepmom is around 7 months pregnant and she has my two year old brother that she has to take care of. she has a fellow czechoslovakian friend staying with us to help out with the baby. her friend (katya) is really starting to annoy me.
she wakes up atthe crack of dawn when my brother and stepmom does. she screams when she speaks and bangs on thegrande piano at 7 in the morning while the rest of the house is trying to sleep. my grandparents hear her from their guest house and it wakes them up as well, but they're too afraid to tell my dad anything because they feel uncomfortable complaining to him. Should I ask confront my stepmom and tell her to keep her friend under control and respect the rest of the household, or should I just live in misery until mid august when I return to Michigan?

Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.
Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.
Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
Only in America......do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet coke.
Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.
Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.
Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.
Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

Whats wrong with America????

I read this article today: Is it wrong to correct someone's Grammer on MSN: http://spotlight.encarta.msn.com/Features/encnet_Features_Columns_default_article_GrammarEthics.html?GT1=10056
Anyway, English is my second language so I speak english well 98% of the time. Well, I have a friend and sometimes when I speak to her and at times when telling her a story, and if I say a word wrong, she gets so fixiated on my grammer, that she misses the whole point (the big picture!!) of my story. Why do people do that? I feel like I'm wasting my time speaking to someone whom are uncomfortable to talk to when they become the "grammar police". Is it wrong to correct someone's grammar? If you were learning a foreign language is it ok for the native person you are talking to interrupt and correct you? What are your thoughts?

A friend of mine invited me on vacation. Her family owns a summer home. So, we can stay for free. I don't have a lot of money right now and she offered to buy me my plane ticket and I would pay her back. For weeks I have been going back and forth about going on the trip. My friend knows I'm very low on cash right now. It's just not the cost of the plane ticket; but the cost of food and acitivites when we get there. The group of friends I'm going w/ come from very well off families. Money isn't an object for their fun. Usually, I have no problem going out with them. But, when on vacation, I can't back decline dinner plans so easily. If I'm home and have no money, I say,. "sorry, I can't make it to dinner tonight" on vacation I can't sit in the house while everyone else goes out.

Anyway, my friend gave me a deadline for getting the plane ticket. It was yesterday. She said if I didn't do it, she would go ahead and book it for me.

See I deliver pizzas for a living, and don't really like seeing guy's wee wee on the streets in the nudest colony, if a delivery comes, and the way the rotation is, I am 1st on the list, and the nudest colony is on the top of the screen, do I have the right to refuse to take the delivery?

Anyone please answer: Do you think I am blowing this way out of proportion?

I face these types everyday as we all do, and I am seeing a trend happening.... more rudeness and ego tripping and less consideration for 'the other guy'. So why is it more and more people are getting their kicks just ego tripping?

Also, my spouse doesn't always get along with one of this friends' family members... is it fair to ask him to come? How should he act?
