There are a few places in this city where they still pump gas for you and there is a tip jar on top of the pump. If I'm going to get out of my car to put anything in it may as well pump my own. I usually just hand them a dollar. Beatifications get 15 to 20 percent of total bill. Hotel maids a couple dollars each day. Don't wait till the end of your stay because you won't have the same maid everyday. I'd say just a $1 per person at a buffet. All they do is bring you your drinks and take away dishes as you use them. Doormen rate is $2 per bag.

I didn't know there was such a thing as full service gas stations anymore!
Yes you should tip your beautician about 10-15% your hotel maid about 3-5 dollars a day, buffet attendants not at all unless there is a tip jar, doormen a couple of dollars, and your mail carrier at the holidays.

I tip bartenders, waitresses, and sometimes hairdressers. At a buffet I leave a dollar or two for the person that brought our drinks to the table. I DO NOT tip the mail carrier (they make good money), maids (they make at least minimum wage (I know that's not a lot, but I've worked for minimum wage, too), restaurant workers when I pick up my food, gas station attendants, or people that do something for me without asking if I need help in expectation of a tip. Tipping is out of control in my opinion.

I grew up in a small town and my parents used full service a lot. I don't remember any tipping...these days the gas is more expensive in full service...so I would assume that covers it. Is just sounds very odd to me.

Now beauticians, yes; hotel maid, yes; buffet attendant; I don't; mail carriers, I don't; doorman, only if they help with something other than the door...like luggage or a taxi;

I used to work at a full-service gas station. Some people tipped minorly, some did not. No, I did not get paid extra for being full service, but as it is not a typically "tipped" job, I got paid a regular amount. You are paying extra on the gas for the extra service. It's like you're temporarily renting out the attendant's services with the premium on the gas (though we see none of it).

The times I was tipped, was usually when I was asked to clean windows and check/refill oil.

I never tip gas station attendants at full serve stations.

I tip a barber 20%.

I tip hotel maids $2 / day

I tip buffet attendants 10%.

I do not live in an apartment building. However, at one time I did tip a doorman at a hotel $5 to get me a cab on a snowy day.

NO, never did, and certainly not with these gas prices. Regarding the others, I would tip well if I am very satisfied with their services. However if it the owner of the Beauty parlor the rule of thumb is that you do not have to tip at all. But you do tip the one that washes your hair.

Any place where a person assists you with the service, yes. Anywhere from $1 for really stupid things like helping me with my luggage into a building, or 20% for a really good dinner service or hair cut. I rarely go any higher than that though.

Tipping people is the worst thing. It is not a common practice here in Australia. We actually pay our staff so they dont need to rely on tips.

Gas station attendents-yes, 'cuz if you don't, they can pull out a cigarette and blow you up
Beauticians-yes, 'cuz they make you pretty
Maids-no, 'cuz when they clean it it's not even your room anymore
What do you mean by buffet attendents?
Mail carriers-yes, 'cuz they deliver your mail safe and sound
Door men-yes, 'cuz they carry your stuff for you, so you don't get a backache.
