i always leave a generous tip with the delivery person, but last month they screwed up my order and sent another pizza with the correct toppings for free. am i obligated to leave a tip again??

on one hand they screwed it up, and i am obligated to a free pizza, why should i pay for their mistake?

on the other hand the delivery boy is not the person who made the mistake, and they still have to drive all the way out to my house.

thoughts?

To all of you that answered my question last week over the my neighborhood tragedy I would like to thank you. I asked that all responses be dignified and sincere. All of you that answered kept to my request and provided dignified, sincere answers. This was a tough time for my neighbors and a week that provided an emotional rollercoaster; however, with your kindness, suggestions, and assistance I was able to apply some of those recommendations to good use. Additionally, as tight and close as we are in my neighborhood we came together and provided a reception following the funeral. On Tuesday (6/19/07) I came home from work and spent 2 hours at a local FedEx Kinko's and took this person's photo and created a piece of art work, put it to oversize, and gave a copy to both the Father/Step Mother, Mother/Step Father. They used it at the wake as well as at the funeral itself. Many people complimented on the effort, and my humble response was that I wish "it didn't have to be done".

I have a very thin (very!) friend. Its strange but sometimes people ask her if she is doing okay or if she is sick. Maybe its because we are in Idaho; I don't know. All I know is she eats more than I do. I think we calculated it once and she eats about 400 more calories a day than I.

Anyways, she got fed up last week with this and whenever someone asked this she would ask if they were okay because they were so fat. At first it was hilarious and they were shocked. She would usually add in something about heart disease or high blood pressure. Lately she has started adding a few choice words to her replies to these people. I think she might be getting carried away. Should I say something? Is it my place to say something?

It really brings up a good point about our society and how being really fat is viewed as normal and being really skinny is not. Mostly, I just think its a funny situation that I am a part of. I am hoping it stays that way.

I rarely go out to eat now because of this rule. The service industry is getting more arrogant and snobby these days. A tip is supposed to exactly what it is..A TIP! If the waiter does a good job and does something "extra" ordinary than you tip them. WTF is up with this mandatory tipping. If you're a waiter and don't like what I have to say than GET A DIFFERENT JOB!

The way I see it, it's your JOB to take our orders and bring them to the customers. Why should I pay you on top of what you're being paid from your employer? I don't tip firefighter for doing their jobs and I don't tip salesman that help me with the sale. So what make waiters special? And please don't give me that jargon about how you make a living off of tips.

I really cant get over this. Some people I used to know sent me an email that they are coming to town and since we hadnt met for some years they were looking forward to meeting me and my family. I said fine, lets have lunch Saturday. They said not possible. Sunday? Nope. Finally we fix for next thursday. Most inconvenient for me as I got to take time off work but okay. I invite others as well. Then they call and cancel thursday. Fool that I am I ask if some other day is okay. Nope. So I say well enjoy your holiday here, seems like we wont be able to meet up this time, lets leave it for next. Now they are telling mutual friends I am sensitive and quick to take offence. How would you react?

The annoying thing is that the D that I got was in chem honors(so it counts as a C) but I WORKED SOOO hard in that class. And now its summer and I have a D. I almost tried to make a fake report card(my parents are asian) but I decided I just need to show them. CAN someone PLEAASEE help me out here. How should I show them, so I don't get completely PULVERISED!
Thanks.

6 of us were dining in a nice upscale, moderately expenisive restaurant last Saturday nite. We were seating at 9, a family with 2 kids seated near us 15 minutes later. Our conversation was not loud, but we didn't whisper either. We were talking about our friend who couldn't get "la1ded" and other adult things.. like who's dating who. etc.
The father of the 2 kids boldly asked up to keep our conversatoin "less adult". because he had kids (it's now 10pm). I told him that we had a right to whatever conversation we wanted.. we didn't use crass or dirty words and were'nt' descriptive. He' was clearly annoyed. Conversation at the next table was about someones apparent boob jobs.. The man was livid.

Isn't there a time and place were kids just DON'T belong. It's 10pm Saturday nite. Our bill came to nearly $1000, I would hope that we could talk about anything we wanted without being PC. We weren't being rude or loud, and management never stepped in.
Am I wrong.
