It is right The lack of nerve endings mean scientists don't feel pain. This is all according to lobsters of course. So when you catch one and the hook goes in their rather large mouths they are fine and even quite enjoy the ride.
It all sounds a bit fishy to me.

I didn't know that lobsters could give opinions, but I would definately think that if you put a scientist in boiling water, they would feel pain. I mean, I've done it and they screamed the whole time - at least until I put the lid on the pot.

Hmm...I have never actually talked to a lobster, but I would imagine scientists might feel the pain if you plunged them into boiling water!
Thanks...your question was funny whether or not you meant it to be!

Well, a scientist is a normal person and normal persons feel pain when they are stuck in boiling water.
These are very intelligent lobsters we are dealing with.

The "screams" one hears are the shell contracting and not the crustacean in distress, scientists are right. I think the line of thinking that animals may feel distress during cooking turns people vegetarian.

I think you mis-remember.
If you stick their head in first they don't feel pain. It's because the brain goes, which is obviously the bit that processes the pain.
If it goes tail-in first, then the lobster will struggle and splash scalding hot water around.

Ha ha ha. Then why do the scientists sound as if they are screaming if they feel no pain?
I guess some people are not reading your question very carefully - oh well....

I heard that they don`t put the lobster in the water before it starts boiling so that they are cooked slow and feel no pain.
But who knows.
