Dear Auntie Giftgiver,

Thank you so much for the very nice card and gift. It was so kind of you to send it to congratulate me. Now that I've graduated (if this is a graduation gift), I'll be getting ready to go to college and your gift to me will help me pay for ___________.

(Or)

Thank you for remembering me on my birthday with the clever card (or nice card) and gift. I'm saving up for _________and will use the money towards that.

My birthday was______________. Luckily, getting older is still fun for me. This next year I am going to ____________(some goal you have for work or fun or anything, really.)

I hope that you are feeling well and enjoying the beautiful summer weather. I'm planning to go skinnydipping in the park pool--I'll send you a postcard from jail when I get caught.

Thank you again for remembering me, Auntie. You are always so kind.

Love,
Your name.

Okay, so this isn't perfect, but I hope it gives you some ideas--other than skinnydipping in the park pool, which is a BAD IDEA.

I greatly appreciate your gift. It was packaged nicely and arrived undamaged, although the lady at the bank attacked it fiercely with a rubber stamp, and consequently, I fear I shall be unable to use it more than once. Green is a favorite color of mine, being symbolic of springtime and rebirth.

I have decided to give the gift to Kroger's. With such wonderful friends, I think it only appropriate to do so, rather than to terminate my life through starvation.

May your favorite deity bless you for the kind thoughts which accompanied the check.

YES! Simply say thank you, let them know that you will be using the money for something that they will feel good about helping you with(your college savings, a car to get you back and forth to work, etc.), and that you are glad that they thought of you. Very simple, but very appreciated!
