I was shopping at kmart tonight. I guess I picked something up that did not have a price tag on it. When I was checking out at the register, this silly teenager spent five minutes looking for a tag, then said "Hmm, here's what we can do. You can pay for all of your other stuff and then go back and get one with a price tag and then go through line again." I was a little confused and taken aback at first and didn't really respond because nobody ever told me that before. Then, I snapped. I said, "Listen, why do I have to go back and get it? Why can't you call someone? I have two jobs already. It is not my responsibility to make sure everything in the store has a valid price on it." He responds by saying, well that is the way it is. Now, I worked in retail in high school, about 10 years ago. I can recall paging someone from the dept when an item did not have a tag on it. Is that the old way of doing things? Was it right that I had to haul my stuff out to my car. Then go back in and buy the

My friend and her husband planned a casual dinner party inviting four people, for food and games at their house. They gave every one only a days notice and then said that they would like to have every one chip in $5.00 a head at the door to off set the cost of food. Well the idea did not sit well with any of us so no one showed. And then the friend was upset and called to ask if I could babysit so that her and her husband could go on a date instead. What is your opinion? How would you react the next time she talks to you?

There is a tip line on the reciept, am I obliged to give one like I am to a waitress who serves me throughout the meal? Not that I shouldn't do it to be nice, I want to know if it's the INDUSTRY STANDARD (like the way that a 15-20% of your pre-tax bill is the standard tip for servers at a sit down meal). Are those who handle carryout paid minimum wage, unlike the servers? I am not sure what handing me a bag and collecting my money should be worth, if anything, since it is pretty simple.
I also wonder if tipping is expected at a buffet if the only service provided is refilling water?
Are industry standards for tipping actually listed anywhere that we could find? I know that the NY Times wrote an article a few years ago where they pretty much said that EVERYONE should be tipped, from the dry cleaner, to the FedEx man, to the guy at the drive-thru. That might be standard in NYC, but it isn't expected anywhere else I believe.

I am a waitress and have been for many years. I understand that my job is to wait on you, but you are normally not my only table, AND it is NOT my fault that your food was cooked wrong or it took longer than normal, i dont cook it, i just serve it. I also dont understand how people can go out and then leave a bad tip. bad service deserves a bad tip, and good service deserves a good tip. by the way, it is usually considered a good tip if it is between 18 and 20 percent of the ORIGINAL bill. so if you got a discount, had a coupon or the kitchen messed up your food and your bill was taken from say $50 to $35, and your server worked their butt off to make you happy, dont leave them three dollars. We are humans too and we do make occassional mistakes. there is a lot that we have to remember. please be nicer to us. Let us say what we are required to say when we greet you, please dont be rude and try to understand that its like being a parent, never a moment where somone doesnt need something

I live in a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment with my roommate/best friend. More often then not, my buddy will use the bathroom and take a giant schlock or dump in the toilet and just not flush the toilet. Leaving me to walk into the bathroom hours later to use the toilet and be confronted by the matter he left in the toilet. Its disgusting and I have asked him numerous times to FLUSH the toilet when done. He apologizes and says it won't happen again but it continues to this day. In the grand scale of things sure its not a major problem but I do not like waking up in the morning and going to urinate only to be surprised with the nastiness left in the bowl. What should I do? Please, keep the smart alec remarks to a minimum...I realize the subject is someone...comical and it will be hard for most people to not respond so.

My job does not require to talk a lot, but they are situations where you have to talk. Some of my other coworkers have tried to talk to him but they say he hardly responds. So I have to work with him, but never says anything. I turn around and I see him handing me stuff, without saying "Here you go". I have heard him talk on the phone but at work nothing. The thing is that he is 22 he should be able to talk.

i have nothing against cell phones, but why do a LOT of people insist on talking on their cells while out in public (when they are trying to place an order at a restaraunt; listening to a cashier give them their total then say "how much again?"; drive thru at McD's) just to name a few. for the love of god...call the person back. you people are so darn annoying! if it's that important, leave or do something. am i the only one who feels this way???

My in-laws are always forwarding things(e-mails) to me that really offend me.....I want to somehow say that I don't appreciate them even though they have a right to their opinion, free speech and all that, but some of them make me flat out sick..I don't want to lower myself to say what I REALLY want, but want them to stop and don't want to cause friction with my husband and his family. They are not funny (to me) in the least.

I saw a few comments on here about how dollor general employees are too lazy to clean the stores, I work at one and we are not lazy, I am a cashier and am expected to take care of customers at the register, stock shelves, sweep, mop, straighten up messes that customers leave, etc... we are not allowed to stay at the register if no customers are there, we have to be moving at all times, so that means if we ring someone out, and then go to the back of the store to straighten shelves and someone comes to the register 1 minute later we have to run back up again to ring them out, and this happens maybe 40-50 times per shift, plus we have to sweep and mop the whole store at closing, so we are not by any means lazy.

My boyfriend has family in another state. They live in a beautiful waterfront (ocean) home w/ a large guest suite, a pool, hot tub, tennis court. They have been inviting us to come and visit them for about 2 years (we have been dating 3). Our stay would be completely free, we would only need to rent a car, buy our plane tickets and buy our own food at restuarants and our own souviners/activies. Any food/alcohol we consume in their home, would be their treat.

I've met these relatives once and we hit it off well. I take to them on the phone occasionally when they call. This summer we have decided to take a vacation together-our first. Due to our crazy schedules, this is the first time we have been able to do this. We are going to stay w/ these relatives.

My boyfriend isn't too organized and dates and such aren't important. He hasn't decided on a date he wants to take a vacation. However, I want him too. How can I urge him to decided on a week for us to visit.

Last month I started a new job, I gave it a few weeks but I haven't found my niche. I've decided to quit. I've only worked there for 4 weeks. Do I need to give two weeks notice? I'm not really an important member of the staff.

I'm suppose to work two 12 hour days, one tomorrow and one on Sunday. I have another job and they have asked me to train on those days. Can I call them up tomorrow and tell them that it's just not working out. I'm only a few days out of the training program. A few incidicents caused me to question the business I'm working at and I don't like it.

What should I do?

Such as ladders and etc.

If you let them borrow it, the next thing you know, they'll be
asking to borrow your lawnmower, weed-whacker, etc.

But then if you don't let them borrow it, you set a reputation
of being that selfish neighbor.

Personally, I don't see nothing wrong with being selfish when
you own the goods and don't want anybody else to touch it.
They might damage it and not tell you about it. And then the
next time you use it, it doesn't work.

Would you go back and accuse them of breaking your
goods?

Here's how I see it:

If you paid good money for that ladder and worked your butt
off for it, nobody should have the right to borrow it from you.

It's yours!

But something like this can actually spoil the bonds of being
good neighbors to each other. It would form a bridge of hatred.

What do you guys normally do in situations like these?
