The only worms you need to worry about in pork are Cysticercus Cellulosae , which are very rare , and found in the muscles and found in the cystic stage....and Trichinnella Spirallis which are very, very small and also rare and found in the muscles, but have to be looked for, by using microscopes
Any other worms / tapeworms are not contagious to man (zoonotic)
In beef the one to look out for is Cysticercus Bovis , which again would be found as a cyst.......
Hydatid cysts , can be found in sheep , and cattle.....and again in the cyst stage....but are very dangerous , if you burst the cyst and get the fluid into your eyes or cuts.....as they can then infect your body....and can make you blind and invade your heart , liver and lungs......and produce cysts up to 12 kg in weight !
Back to your question......the tapeworm , will not harm you......but I still wouldn't fancy eating it ....would you ?
The worst that the cysts in cattle and pigs can do to you is give you tapeworms !
The Trichinella , burrow into the muscles in your body , and give you symptoms of rheumatism......and can affect you if you eat raw pork or raw pork products , that contain them.
The Hydatid cysts , are normally found in the slaughterhouses , by Meat Inspectors, of which I am one.......we just dump the affected parts.
Most of these would be spotted by the butcher , when he is cutting up the meat....but they would seldom know what they are looking at !
I love to eat meat......and I put my trust , in my fellow meat inspectors , around the world.....so don't let this information put you off meat......
Most worms, bacteria and other things are rendered safe , by thorough cooking !
Oh.....and avoid eating cress....because you can get Liver fluke worms off them...ie they burrow into your liver.....and make you very ill !
You will never see a vet , eating water cress !

Take it (still on the plate) to the butcher you brought it and expect a full refund.
Explain how it ruined your evening meal and that you are concerned about the rest of the meats on thier counter.

i do no longer consume meat, yet whilst i got here across a tapeworm in my foodstuff whilst ingesting with royalty i could take care of them comparable to all of us else and keep my mouth close. If i wanted to vomit, then it relatively is many times extra useful to leave your corporation employer than to vomit in front of them.

I would probably throw up. I can't stand bugs in my food. I would get so sick. Are you sure it is a tape worm and not just a vein?
