I bought a king-size bed with foundation and frame and I'm having it delivered to my second-story apartment. The price of the bed kind of wiped me out, so I don't have the means to be overly generous, but I want to be fair and not let the men leave angry in terms of tip.

Since I'm certainly not going to tip 15% of the bed's price, what is a fair amount to tip? Also, do I hand money to each member of the crew or just one with the understanding that it's for all of them?

I just want to come out of this situation looking polite, despite being poor!

you're in college, it's your birthday, and you got a birthday card from a good friend who goes to a different school. do you typically tell him (either e-mail, phone, whatever) "thank you?" do most college folks?

I am planning on going to a clothing optional beach this Saturday with my colleagues Paige and Alexandria. We are all co workers and 22 years old. I have always wanted to go to a nude beach with girls but never had the chance. They said they would be willing to go but they want to remain in their bikinis. I plan on going naked and they said it wouldnt bother them. Is this a good idea. I mean I know I may get excited when I am lying on the beach towel next to them but I dont think theyll tease me about my 3.5 inches. They arent that cruel. I wanna go really bad but my best friend Jerry says not to.

Ok usually me and a friend or family member wait until a movie has been out a while before seeing it so it wont be so crowded.
Well we go in theatre and it's completely empty, then few minutes later 2 more people come in and either sit 2 seats away from us or right behind us.
Theatre is huge why do they have to choose the seats next to us.
I mean i could careless if there are people in there , but why sit right on top of us if there are like 25 rows or more to choose from and balconies??
There always the giggly types or the ones with leg kicking syndrome! or the cringling of the candy wrapper people.
I know it can't just be because we picked the best seat in the house because sometimes i would pick the lousy seats andd it still happens lol.
Any ideas??? :-)

I'm a telemarketer for a major newspaper. I called a guy last night and he picks up and says "How many times are you guys gonna call me??" and I said "Well, sir, probably everyday since all we say is ____ newspaper and you hang up without giving us the opportunity to tell you why we're calling you. Wouldn't you keep calling someone if you had something to tell them and they wouldn't let you tell them why you were calling?" and he got irate and started screaming at me and using profanity and calling me every name in the book. I don' think I was being rude, just honest and making a point.

I was just wondering if this ever happened. I noticed that in line, they are very nice and say 'thank you' to the other customers, but when it's my turn they say nothing to me. Its not my age or the way I dress, I think they just judge me for some reason.

I've been offered a job at a mid-scale Country Club and I'm not sure if I should take it. I would work in the dining room serving the guests lunch and dinner, and also working private parties that members will be having.

I knows these inviduals can be difficult, but if the money is right; It will be well worth it.

Will I make money if I take this job? How much? I'm planning on working weekends, and days during the summer season?

I need money badly and can't be in a job were my income will be low. I have too many financial responsiblies for that. If it helps I'm in my last year of college. I've never known anyone that has worked in a country club, so I don't know hwo they work or if you make money.

Seriously, I moved in to a town home 6 months ago and almost every night the guy next door either plays his stereo or Xbox loud enough that I hear it over my TV and it vibrates the pictures on my wall. I don't want to come across as a nasty new neighbor, but I just want them to turn it down a couple notches. Any suggestions?

This is completely shallow, I realize. I am originally from NY. I recently relocated to Tennessee and tomorrow I have a job interview at an old Southern Plantation that is a historical site and does tours/class trips/weddings etc. I am really nervous because I feel like being from the north is really going to work against me here (a northern "accent", I don't say y'all, I certainly don't present myself as a "southern belle"). I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how I could dress a certain way or act a certain way that would lend me some southern credibility (short of faking a drawl).

[note: I know most people would say something along the lines of... why would you change for a job?... If you can't get a job based on qualifications rather than appearance, that's your fault... etc. Just humor me, I am kind of desperate at this point for employment.]

would you react if you walked into my office at a professional workplace and saw this?

I am really torn between winter and summer, so I decided to have both themes going.

So far no one has walked in, but how would YOU react?

I do have a volleyball, and I placed summer-like ornaments on the Christmas tree.

I'm sending some emails out to people I've never met or had contact with before. I can't decide whether to say 'Dear Helen', 'Hello Helen' or go really formal and put Dear Ms Jones. Also, some of them are doctors and I always like to be more formal then and address as 'Dear Dr Jones'. Is 'Dear Ms Jones' too much? If you received an email like that would it appear creepy? Thanks all.

Please can someone explain the system where this DS chap has it put into his head that he would like to go to a show, then to stay in a hotel, not just a normal place but a 5 star hotel. Yet he is not allowed to take his auntie out to do exactly the same thing on him?!! She has to pay herself!!

I can understand that there has to be a person inbetween calling the shots however when it is for their own self gratification surely there is something wrong with it.

Another carer told the two DS chaps who share accomodation that they should get Sky tv, they organised it and now the carer sits and watches sky tv?!!!

Wat is wrong with our society that this is allowed to go on. My friend has tried to talk to the boss of the carers involved but unfortunately nothing seems to be done and she is being made out to be a trouble maker. Who can she go to to sort this out?

I'm not referring only to gum (although I really do not want to see what someone has in their mouth at any time).
What i really object to, is people who take a mouthful of food and then carry on chatting. You see it a lot in fast-food restaraunts and I hate the sight of partially masticated food appearing and disappearing as the mouth opens/closes. Not to mention the spray effect. Ugh!

What should I do? She calls me at home, non stop. I wouldn't mind except for the fact that she insist on gossiping about the job (which by the way, I'm still at). I don't want to be rude because I know it's hard for her but I also don't want to jeopardize my position at work.

When someone offers me criticism and I feel it is justified I like to thank them but it sometimes appears that sincerity comes over as sarcasm and matters get worse. Is it just me or is the world changing so that saying thank you to someone for pointing out a flaw in my character is misunderstood as some hooded scaly being cheeky?

When he greeted me at my apppointment at a sleep clinic in a prestigious NY hospital, wearing a white coat, he introduced himself as Doctor So-and So. He conducted a 15 minute examination, asking very personal and detailed questions about my medical history and sleep habits. Then another man came in and conducted a physical (neuro) exam. When I got home I googled the first "doctor" and found out he wasn't a medical doctor but has a PhD in Psychology (received 2 years ago) and also a teaches at this fancy hospital.

I think someone wearing a white coat in a hospital setting calling himself "doctor" should be a physician -- or at least explain upfront that he's not a medical doctor but a psychologist (or whatever he is). Am I wrong? Over-sensitive? Or was he misrepresenting himself?

Hi,

Simple question: I go to a house. It is the first time I go there and it is the first time I am meeting this people. I bring a gift-wrapped chocolate box. I want to give it.

What do I say when I give the box?

How to put it really elegantly?

E.g. “Here is small present from me” , “Please accept this small gift”.

But they just don’t sound right.

Firstly, I have a gripe with supermarket loos. They put the loo role dispenser on on the side where the door opens and if you are any more than a size 8 (UK) you have to fight to squeeze past it to sit on the loo.
Then the people who have their dispensers on the wall just behind your shoulder, how easy is that to get hold of?
Loo roll above the cistern behind you?
The other day I visited someone who had the loo at one end of the bath and the freestanding loo roll dispenser on the floor at the other end of the bath!!!
Does this exasperate anyone else?

This is only one example of many cell phone courtesy issues, but I think one of the RUDEST things you can possibly do with a cell phone is walk up to the counter (store, pharmacy, wherever) while talking on your phone, and expect someone to help you as you carry on your conversation. Hang up, or wait till your done!

I work in a pharmacy and I refuse to help a person speaking on their phone....next!!

I was actually wondering, am I the only person who thinks this is rude? Who are these people, and are you one of them?
I need an explanation!
