I can appreciate the practicality of messaging someone once or twice, but holding a whole back-and-forth conversation via thumb-typing?

Let's say, hypothetically speaking, that your parent, child, spouse, or significant other confided in you with a confession to killing another person but insist they did so out of self-defense.

At this point, they are not a suspect, and probably won't be. Aside from you, no one knows.

If you report them, you will certainly protect yourself, but there's a good chance they will be convicted of murder and sent to prison.

Would you keep their secret? Do they have a right to expect that you will protect them unconditionally? Or do you have a greater responsibility to society... and to the family of the slain?

I was talking with a neighbor today, and she asked my 5 year old daughter was she talking in school yet. And I said no, but when she gets home she she talks alot. I also said that my daughter was just "fronting". And my neighbor replied " Aren't we all?" What do you think she meant?

I don't mean to sound judgemental... it's not the style of her clothing that's the problem, I honestly don't care what she wears. It's probably the sizing. She's of medium build, with larger bone structure, but every shirt she owns shows her rather large midsection. And ill-fitting pants give her 2 waists, esp when she cinches with a belt.
I think she's a wonderful person, but she looks awful.
Is it better to keep one's trap shut and let them continue in the world with their bellies hanging out? Or should a friend politely suggest a fashion alternative? How does one do this without insulting/losing a friend?

I was supposed to have a meeting with a certain person today and she called in sick to say she has to go home and can't make it. She wants to set up an appointment for next week. I only know her work phone, which means I can't reach her anyway. Should I just call her secretary?

My husband and I work at the same company. Husband is on travel and is very busy. A co-worker wants his cell phone number so he can talk to him about a project they are working on here.

My husband and I do not want to give our cell phone number out to co-workers. We pay for the phone and the service ourselves, and we use it for personal calls and our own convenience. We don't want people at work to have the number, because some of the people don't understand boundaries between work and personal life and would call evenings, mornings, weekends if they could.

I have told this co-worker politely three times now that I have told my husband to call him. Co-worker doesn't seem to get the point that my husband knows co-worker wants to call him, has co-workers phone number at work, and if he hasn't returned the call it's because he's busy. Any advice?

I am an administrative assistant. I've been at this job for four months and so far I think I've done pretty well.

Today, right as I walked in the door, my boss took one look at me and said, right in front of everyone there, "I want to talk to you. I thought I told you to send an email to so-and-so about the meeting change. He says he didn't get it and he drove 50 miles down here yesterday and we weren't even here." I tried to explain that I had contacted him, but my boss just walked away rolling her eyes. Her attitude was clearly, "I'll deal with you later."

I went to my desk and pulled up the email that I had sent to him. I also hadn't deleted most stuff out of my inbox and found an email that he sent me back confirming he could attend on the new date!

I showed it to my boss and all she said was, "Oh, well," and walked away. No apology or anything.

I'm still working as a temp, but this is the third time something like this has happened. Should I stay or should I get out now?

Have you ever been rude to your server at a restaurant, whether it be fast food, sit down, or other? If so, why? I am asking because sometimes those of us who have that job are left in awe of how rude some guests can be, especially when we did everything we could to ensure them a nice stay at our establishment. Have you ever been rude and then regretted it later because you knew you were wrong or overreacted?

I work at a restaurant that is considered to be convenience food, not fast food. Most everything is done on a make to order basis. So although you will get your food faster than in a sit down restaurant (we do have guest sit down and we bring it out to them), it still takes longer than McDonald's.
So there are always guests who want you to be able to get their order as fast as they can order it. Even when you explain to them that their food is being made fresh. So do you prefer to get your order as quicky as possible or would you rather know that you are getting a nice, hot, fresh sandwich that might take a little longer to make?

I rent an apt in a not very classy building. Just moving in, the super replaced a deadbolt lock that was painted over and wouldnt work (ie, should've been done before, without my asking!) It took him about 15 min, and when he was leaving he sort of stalled and then asked me what I was paying per month....Weird, right?
Asking my friend who owns a apt in a much nicer neighborhood, she said I should tipped between $10-15! Another friend who owned said she just gave a nice chunk at Christmas or something...

Does the level of luxury within your building dictate how or if you tip??? Serious answers only, please!

the same couple of workers when I notice it ...

What should I do about it? (Besides tell them no sugar and add it myself later - that's their job to add the sugar, not mine!)

I have spoken to managers already but it keeps happening and the kids act all innocent.

Should I egg their cars in the parking lot?

Pour bags of salt on their cars?

Any other ideas?

I have a coworker whose work is sub-standard. When questioned about things she did wrong, she always covers it up by lying and making up excuses. Isn't there a word for someone like this?
