So I'm a freshman and my boyfriend is a junior and he's taking me to prom. I don't know what to do for the boutonniere. My parents told me to just get one, but i've had people tell me to ask what color and type or corsage he's going to get me. What do i do?

The boutonierre and corsage do not need to match. In fact, I would stick with classy and simple. What does need to match is the ribbon on the boutonierre with your dress (and hopefully his tie, he should have asked you what color you're wearing).

I always went with a simple white rose, a couple sprigs of baby's breath and a leaf (if you tell the florist you want a white rose boutonierre, they'll usually do the rest and arrange it all nice for you). And then some ribbon that will match your dress. Anything bigger for a boutonierre looks silly in my opinion, and guys don't usually seem to like having tons of flowers on their lapel.

Just get a simple boutonniere, like a rose or carnation, something that compliments what you are wearing.

Get one that matches the dress you are going to wear. Chances are he's going to wear a dark suit. If you get one that matches your dress, it would look good against his suit and compliment your dress

Ask your local florist, just give them a jingle on the phone. They'll be MORE than happy to assist you. Good luck!

I doesn't have to match. Just get a rosebud that matches your dress and you two will look great!

You can't go wrong if you get a white rose bout. That would go with everything.
