Ok usually me and a friend or family member wait until a movie has been out a while before seeing it so it wont be so crowded.
Well we go in theatre and it's completely empty, then few minutes later 2 more people come in and either sit 2 seats away from us or right behind us.
Theatre is huge why do they have to choose the seats next to us.
I mean i could careless if there are people in there , but why sit right on top of us if there are like 25 rows or more to choose from and balconies??
There always the giggly types or the ones with leg kicking syndrome! or the cringling of the candy wrapper people.
I know it can't just be because we picked the best seat in the house because sometimes i would pick the lousy seats andd it still happens lol.
Any ideas??? :-)

daisy Mae why don't you get a life??
Sounds to me you're too much of a handicap to even go to the movies, i suggest renting dvd's in your future.
I'm not a rude person but just irritated me with that last line you wrote.
I was being rude in my question i merely stated an innocent question as to why if the theatre is empty do people choos to be on top of someone. Sounds to me you're TOO NEEDY!

that is definetly just awkward. thats like an unwritten rule that in an empty seating arrangmant there is a zone around the very few people sitting. theres nothing you can do, people are just stupid!

Depending on the size of the theatre, I usually sit at the very back row. The foot thing can't happen that way.
If the back row is taken, I have to sit in front of someone and the morons doing the above, or kicking the chair, I move elsewhere, no matter what part of the film is showing.
Point gets made, I watch in peace.

i like to sit in the middle of the back row. to me, thats the best spot for watching a movie. if someone is sitting in that spot i will sit near it. i will not sit directly next to the person, but near that area. i will leave a few seats empty. i will not sit directly behind someone either, i will move a couple over to be away from the people. this way i can put my feet up if i feel like it.

I HATE when people do that! It's a mystery. You go to a nearly empty theater and sit right in front of the only people there? WHY?
It's bizarre. I truly have no thoughts as to what motivates people to do so. Perhaps it's the gregarious nature of people? They want to be near others? They're afraid of the dark? I don't know, but I feel your pain.

Suprisingly this is not just a theatre thing. Humans by nature will "cling" to each other. It is by instinct that they gravitate to the closest human. In an empty room people will stand close to each other in a crowd, just like animals in a pack. It is ingrained in our brains like an animal instinct. If it bothers you that much the easiest thing to do would be to move. Sorry but humans are merely just animals with thumbs.

This has happend to me on a couple of ocasions. I was with my one friend to see Beerfest...and the theater wasn't crowed....we went to the latest showing, and it had been out for a little bit..and this group of guys came in and sat right next to my friend!!.... maybe it was because we sat like right in the front row of the farther back seats...but who knows...
then again it happend when i saw a movie with my mother and my aunt...these people sat like right next to me...there were maybe 10-15 people total..and it can hold maybe 100 people.....or so.
maybe people think "we'll sit here, because other people are so we don't feel like we're alone"

You have the right to change your seat. You also have the right to ask them to be quiet in the theater if they are so noisy they are disturbing your comfort. Some people like to see how much aggravation that others will tolerate from them before taking action. They are like bad children and must be corrected.

I don't know why people do that. I have found it odd too. Another thing, similar, that a waitress told me was that if someone comes in to her restaurant (where you seat yourself) they will choose a table that has NOT been cleaned up yet, when there are many clean tables available. I don't understand a lot people, I guess.

I FEEL your pain and can sympathize. Ya gotta realize the mentality level of most people is not real high on the scale.
It's the same in parking lots! Sometimes I feel like setting up a circle of land-mines around myself!! Grrrrrrr

Thank you! That drives me nuts! I have actually gotten up and left a better seat for one that is not as good just to get away from them...I'm like a magnet for them. It's even worse when they sit directly in FRONT of you! IGNORANT! Even worse yet is when they bring thier screaming brat with them too!
