I have to give pst exemption to embassy employees and then they don't even tip. She says she has no cash as a $20 is staring up at me. I pointed out the option of adding the tip to her VISA and she said it costs to much, I'll have to catch you later. The government pays for those lunches. It would not hurt the lady with the big paycheck to tip like a regular Canadian. I provided excellent service and was greatly insulted by her lack of manners.

I was wondering if you think it's rude to listen to an ipod while food shopping? I would have it low volume while shopping with my mom (she's fine with it). Is it acceptable?

I live opposite a university union, where a nice girl works....we've noticed each other, since late 2005.
It's difficult to come up with excuses to talk to her though. She was waiting for me to be more friendly to her....then she gave up.....but recently her boss told her not to charge my family "as they're VIPs", which doubtless sparked her interest again. She gets a bit nervous when talking to me now, which I interpret as a good sign! A couple of days ago, she spilled her cup of tea all over her reception desk, when I made a routine enquiry...which she mopped up with her tights....which she had taken off (she was using the gym beforehand I think). I said I'd buy her a new pair, which she smiled at but probably didn't take all that seriously. She used a pretty cheap pair, and I've just gone out and bought the most expensive pair in the city (£20, or US$35).

How should I give them to her, and what should I say?

I've recently started working at a new restaurant, at first I got on with everyone really nicely but since I was offered a managerial position the chef, (who is older than everyone at work and has many years experience) has turned hostile and disregards any thing i say or suggest to the point of telling me if I have any thing to say, I should not put it directly to him but tell the boss instead. Yesterday a costumer asked how long his food was going to be so I went to ask the chef, he told me not to put pressure on him and physically pushed me outside the kitchen, I was speechless at his attitude... I wanted to aproach him about it but i talked to my boss instead who said that for now it's best if we use him as a 'middle man' as me and the chef seem to clash. I believe that all staff should be able to communicate with each other and it feels like we have to ***** foot around the chef because he's so set on his ways...
I want to excell at my job... how do I deal with this?

Do you think it is rude for your immediate family (mum, dad and siblings) not to send you an engagement card? .. Or do you think in this day-in-age a phone call of congrats is sufficient? I live overseas from my family, so it’s not as if they would be here for an engagement party, in fact I don’t think any of my family will turn up for the wedding at this stage.

If you can give me some urban legend info on this, it'd be a fun read.

I'll pick the best answer the the most creative one. I don't care about "yer "spelling, type away.

I work with young people and have noticed things about their behaviour which I hadn't really noticed before. Some of them are really assertive and say what is on their mind, irrespective of whether they are right or wrong. Others always want to help everyone with their problems, irrespective of whether their help is needed or not. None of these qualities are bad, but I noticed that the ones that are helpful, are sometimes out to please people, without thinking about their own needs, and or often taken advantage off. So I would like to know, why do some people look as being nice as a sign of being a push over?

Hello. Sorry for being curious, but I'm attending a music school in the United Kingdom. I wonder: is there a similarity between proper Southern manners and proper British manners (i.e. uses of 'sir' and 'ma'am')?

Its almost 1 am here and I can't get any sleep because of my pain in the butt neighbors. My rude neighbors keep screaming like deranged morons. I'm 14 and even I'm more mature than these people. Its completely ridiculous that I have to deal with this. Why are some neighbors inconsiderate jerks?

my mom told me I was very critical, for ex I am seeing this guy that told me that the last person he dated was not well spoken she is 37 y/o to make a long story short she uses the word "were" instead of "was" and vice versa and he also shared with me that this is what bothered him about her, and I told my mom about it b/c I thought it was funny. My mom said to that I should stop being so critical and stuck up just b/c I am in school and everyone is not blessed to have that opportunity. But how can you not be critical of that. WTF it doesn't really have anything to do with being in school, you learn to speak proper english in elementary! I admit I am a bit judgemental so how can I train myself not to be.

...If the job is boring and it doesn't get in the way of their work, why not?
In the old days, say at a gas station cashier, hotel desk clerk, factory floor, assembly line, the employees might of had a small TV on the counter and nobody would've cared at all. Now if i wanted to do that, my boss would probably throw a hissy fit and NO WAY. It seems this way to me and shows how UPTIGHT AND WORRIED OR PARANOID we've become.

I was hand delivered a wedding invitation addressed to me and my boyfriend (my name appeared first). The response card contains a blank that says M ______________ . What do we write in the blank? Do we mark out the "M" and write our names without a prefix? Or do we respond in the order that the invitation was addressed? Or do we put his name first? Does it even matter??

Someone I did not know passed earlier this week. However, I have known her son for 8 years and my husband has known him for 10 years. She lives out of state. I've been struggling with what to write in the card. Simply signing it does not seem enough. I picked out a very pretty card, but I feel like I should write something thoughtful.

Any suggestions?

Okay so I'm at church and I set all my belongings down and put my water bottle by my purse. While the youth are learning this pregnant lady comes into the room to feed her child and he's thirsty so she takes my water bottle (not even knowing who it belongs to mind you) and pours all my water and ice out and sets the water bottle down. I didn't say anything then because she's an adult but the more I think about it the more irritated how rude it was? Am I overreacting and what gives some adults the right to do that?
