I have to give pst exemption to embassy employees and then they don't even tip. She says she has no cash as a $20 is staring up at me. I pointed out the option of adding the tip to her VISA and she said it costs to much, I'll have to catch you later. The government pays for those lunches. It would not hurt the lady with the big paycheck to tip like a regular Canadian. I provided excellent service and was greatly insulted by her lack of manners.

For the record, I never asked for a tip, she brought it up, I just informed her of the option available on Visa. For all you people that think i get paid well. I get $6.75 an hour. Ignorance is not an excuse.! Perhaps the Canadian government should stop assuming that all people tip!

It is a personal choice to tip. I don't think there is a right answer but I hope to expand the publics' views toward tipping. We, as servers, make below minimum wage and work hard to make your dining experience a pleasant one, it is greatly appreciated when our service is complimented. I am not money hungry, just appreciate common courtesy and respect. Some people just don't know how to give it. And I consider a verbal compliment on the service appreciation. It's not just showed by cash tips. Some people just cannot afford to tip, I used to be one of them. If i have a table with kids, I give excellent service regardless of whether or not I recieve a tip. I love kids and i know how costly it is to raise them.
