Wow, I did not realize there were such strong oppinions about hospital valets. Also, the hospital I go to has two seperate valets. one for the ER, and one for the rest. dont know if that makes a difference.

In general I am a fair to large tipper (minimum 20%) however I am so opposed to this idea I wouldn't give them a nickel. If the hospital here starts that crap, I'm going to be out there picketing.

I HATE the fact that hospitals have come up with valet parking. I think that they think it will make them look "upscale". Believe me, when you get the bill, you know you've at least paid "upscale" prices!

Yes I have used the service though and I usually tip $1-$2. One time when all the regular parking was taken and I was forced to use valet I told the valet that I was sorry that I could not tip him because I had no money. Honestly I didn't have any because my husband was in the hospital and I had no income coming in. I felt badly about it but it was the truth.

If you was that person driving around cars all day in the hot sun and having to put up with good and bad customers would you want a tip...? put yourself in their shoes first and second, You got closer to the door without having to walk a mile and then when you come out you have someone fetch your car...wow that is NICE huh? and as long as they smile, treat you with kindness and respect, no damage to car and the music is not blaring i would for sure give them atleast
2 - 3.00's because they are working not slaking like these BUMS you see panhandling for the same thing and have they done anything for you except use your tax dollars to clean their messes off the Streets. THINK ABOUT IT...we pay / give money to BUMS daily but can't tip a Valet for doing something for us...? hope that makes sense to all of you to start appreciating the smaller things in life that you think don't count / exist.

Recently, our local hospital had valet service ONLY because of construction that was going on. I did tip; it was freezing and the poor guys were working their butts off. Normally, I don't use the service, but whenever I do use any valet service I tip...that is only proper etiquette.

No, and as for pay parking for emergency is a load of BS to!
I feel they take enough from out as it is. Bad enough you are going into the emergency and then to hunt around for change on the parking metres. Man, that pees me off!
What free hospital? I'm from Canada new one on me! Really a free hospital?
