I agree, no one has any class these days. No white before Memorial day where I come from, in the North.

I don't wear white skirts before Easter...well because I'm a guy. But I will wear my Dockers and a white linen shirt and sandals if the weather is appropriate. I'm in Arkanas and the weather here is tricky. 32 degrees one day and 72 the next. Since you're in Texas I would say as long as it's tasteful, then wear it. But you must follow the cardinal rule of fashion: Wear what makes you feel comfortable. If you don't feel comfortable wearing Linen or white skirts before Easter, then don't.

I think it was a ridiculous rule to begin with; if it's very warm, *why* should you *not* be able to wear linen, sandals or white clothing before Easter? I mean, if there's a cold and rainy day, you wear a thick sweater and a winter coat *after*, right? Clothing should be picked out according to the weather, not according to the calendar. The climate is changing some but even without global warming, El Nino and all those major changes, there've always been extra-nice days from late fall to early spring, and cold, stormy days in summer... dress for them!

The rule used to be that you didn't wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. These rules have changed some. White shoes, purses and such are always acceptable at Easter. At other times, perhaps an off white would be more fitting. There are so many new shades of white that you may find proper for each season.

That's just silly! Who came up with that rule anyway? White and linen are perfectly acceptable all through the year. A pair of strappy sandals is a perfect way to welcome in the spring, so why wait for for Easter?

I certainly do not follow this rule - what if it is extremly hot before Easter and want to wear sandals.
Did this fashion begin becasue of something to do with Christs resurrection I wonder?

Well out here in sunny California we are a bit more progressive and don't follow outdated and old fashioned fashion rules. My family is from the South and used to tell me things like that and I wondered what sort of crack they were smoking.

I think you may be the last person left who follows that rule. It pretty well went by the way side in the sixties. If I remember right, I think it was labor day that you put all your summer attire away.

That is outdated. I wear white in December. I think it is a nice Winter color, but I also pair it with a red scarf and gloves, or some other bold colored scarf/gloves.

I've never followed the "rules of fashion". I wear what I like, when I like.
