I was wondering if you think it's rude to listen to an ipod while food shopping? I would have it low volume while shopping with my mom (she's fine with it). Is it acceptable?

No, but don't have the headphones in both ears so if she is talking to you, you can hear her and answer her.

I work in a store and will not help anyone with an iPod or a phone stuck in their ear. I will simply take the next customer. If you don't have the time to have interpersonal interaction I don't have time to spend waiting on you like a robot. It is just common courtesy to pay attention.

No, youre perpetuating an individualistic society where we are cut off to one another and unaproachable, maybe the reason you Mom took you shopping was to spend time with you and acutally have a conversation, but you choose to ignore the outside world instead of having a relationship with your mother.

Yes, yes I do.
No matter how much I enjoy listening to the London Philharmonic Orchestra or how much you enjoy listening to whatever you listen to, put the iPod up and spend some mother-daughter time with your mother.

If you and your Mom are talking, it may be looked upon as rude. I don't think its a big deal. Maybe others do, though...

No, what's wrong with that? Unless your mother is talking to I don't see the problem.
