every year they invite me to their house and the foods taste horrible, it seems like the party was torture ...i don't want to be mean about it because i love them , i just don't like their foods and the party always lasts too long and i'm tired and i don't have all the time in the world to waste in a party.

tell me all the possible excuses to tell them that i can't go to their dumb party.

Suppose a person has completed medical training, tested proficiently in their home country and performed all the other tasks necessary to earn the qualification of Doctor. But the person emigrates to a country where they have not passed the local licensing exam (language barriers and so forth). Should you still address this person as Doctor?

Another example: Qualified physicians are leaving the Philippines at high rates and coming to the US to take the NCLEX. They stay in the US and work as nurses. They have proper medical training and degrees. Should they also be addressed as Doctor So-and-so?

On the other hand, people are conferred doctoral degrees by universities of questionable repute. Should they be addressed as Doctor So-and-so?

What are your thoughts on the etiquette and use of the title "Doctor?"

My friend is giving me her car.. Is that ok?
Can I accept such a gift from a friend. She needs a bigger one so she said I could have her car she was using. If I take it how can I thank her?
Is it normal to feel bad about taking something so big?
thanks.

How do I go about doing this without giving him the wrong idea? I don't really want to do this, so... would it be weird for a girl to go to the prom with her girl friends and without a date? I really want to have fun on this once in a lifetime event, but I don't want to go if it will be awkward. HELP! WHAT SHOULD I DO AND HOW SHOULD I DO IT????

But when on vacation far from home and you see a licence plate from your state on a car at some tourist site, you strike up a conversation and chat like you were old friends. My wife does this all the time. I don't understand???

As I read through these posts I'm amazed at the amount of people who don't use punctuation.

Do they just choose not to use it?
Do they not know how to use it?
Or is it just quicker to type without it?

It drives me CRAZY!

Why is it that parents have to tote their screaming kids around in public? I was at the mall yesterday and there was a kid screaming at the top of her lungs and banging on the dressing room doors. It was a mom, daughter and a baby (maybe 2 years old). The mom was holding the kid while the daughter kept trying on clothes, she was telling the daughter that they needed to go and put the baby down for a nap. I was in the store for about an hour and kept running into them with their screaming child. They were pushing around a stroller that laid back-but it was full of bags. A friend of mine works at the store and went up to them and asked them to calm down their child or leave the store.
Am I wrong to think that parents should be more considerate of others?

I have been friends with this couple for quite a long time. Unfortunately the husband had a really short 'fling' with his wife's best friend who is also a friend of mine. The couple are back together. They won't all come to my party - but who should i invite? The couple or the single woman. I really want to invite them all - should i do that and let them sort it out? or what?

My husband and have have gotten several invites for baby showers recently. All from former coworkers of his in the city we just moved from. 2 I have never met. Do I have to send a gift to them or just a card? My friends opinions differ on this so maybe you all can help. Thanks!

Everytime I'm out in public I'm treated with distrust. I don't understand why; I don't look like a scary person and I have good hygene and I wear nice clothes.

Today when I was opening my car door in the student parking lot to get out the woman in the car next to me immediately locked her doors I heard her auto door locks click.

Two years ago at Target when I reached over to grab some paper napkins. The female sitting near there swiftly grabbed her purse and pulled it close to herself.

And a year ago when I was downtown walking down the sidewalk. Another woman parks her car in the alley blocking the sidewalk! She gets out and as soon as she see's me she runs back to her car to make sure it's locked.

Tell me now, why are women so insecure? Is it me, or is it them? It's almost as if they scare themselves to death.

I on the other hand I am always confident when I'm out and about but I've been noticing these things that make women look bad. They don't don't have any confidence.

i'm a member of my local freecycle (a group that exchanges free unused/unwanted items). i gave away a vacuum on there yesterday. i told whoever wanted the item that i would like them to come get it that same day and to please not respond unless they can meet those terms. i had someone ask for it. i told them that they could have it but to please come get it. well, the lady responded THE NEXT DAY and asked me to bring it to her. she gave me a guilt trip and told me that she was on oxygen cuz of 2nd hand smoke. i'm not doubting her, and i'm sorry that this is her situation. i'm just a little ticked that she did this. i thought it was completely rude. she took her time to respond back to to me, then asks me to bring it to her not taking any of my daily activities into concideration. i'm a mother of 2 toddlers less than a year apart. all day i take care off errands, homework, cooking, cleaning, kids, etc. then i go to school full-time at night. what would you do?

I'm going to go to a house party thing next saturday, I really want to to extend my tiny friend circle by meeting friends of friends and all that.

Now most of the people there like already know each other and everything, and the "games" can get you know, a bit intimate and "full on", like kissing people and stuff. My more conservative sexuality and stuff won't be doing me any favours when it comes to this.

I don't wanna be the only person who leaves before those kind of games happen, but yeah it's not my thing, I just can't turn it down because of the friends oppurtunity, any way of slipping away without seeming rude or stupendously frigid?

This morning, I was in a rush and accidently spilled coffee on the copier. Now it's not working and smoke is coming out. No one knows I did it but they are asking who did it to come forward. I can get fired for this, what should I do?
