why guests in an italian wedding are not allowd to wear purple clothes?

Never heard that related to wedding (I'm Italian); anyway purple is considered bringing bad luck in showbiz; in the past, during Lent actors weren't allowed to play: no work, no money; and in Lent churches were decked out in purple. So purple "begun" along with hard times.

I've never heard of this. I even did a search for it and couldn't find anything. You might try asking this in the Italy section, as you might get more knowledgeable answers.
