How do I go about doing this without giving him the wrong idea? I don't really want to do this, so... would it be weird for a girl to go to the prom with her girl friends and without a date? I really want to have fun on this once in a lifetime event, but I don't want to go if it will be awkward. HELP! WHAT SHOULD I DO AND HOW SHOULD I DO IT????

I had a female friend that asked me to take her to her prom years ago. She took care of all the details her dress, what color tux I should wear all of that. I borrowed my Dads car and bought her the coursage. After the dance I took her home and that was the end of the date.

When you ask him. Ask him to be your escort to the dance. If you call it a date he may think he's going to get lucky. Go dutch on dinner and let him know it's your call if you are going to go to any of the parties after or anything more than that.

It is absolutely okay for a girl to ask a guy or to go as an all girl or co-ed group. Sorry, fellas, all boy groups are lamin'.

It will not be awkward, if you stop working it up as a once in a lifetime event and realize it is just a party.

Nowadays prom is level playing field. Go for it! Just make sure and clearly present your motives.

Ex.

you:Will you go to prom with me?
(assuming the answer is yes elaborate)
There will be no sacking on this one pal!

Then proceed to consider his thought process.

His Thoughts:
Damnit, I just said yes to a totally plutonic prom...lame.
No nookie...so sad.
Oh well, too late.

His outer monologue:
Uh yeah, just friends...*mumbles*

Of course it is perfectly fine for a girl to ask a guy to prom just as friends. Perhaps, try inviting him along with his friends, to come with your girlfriends. Tell him something like "Me and my girlfriends were talking and we were wondering if you and your friends wanted to come along with us. Sound fun?" That way, you're telling him you want him there, but just as friends.

when your hanging out casually mention that you don't want to go to prom with some weird date and say how cool and fun it would be if he, one of your best friends could go with you.

I think its ok. I personally wouldnt do it, cuz Id rather be asked myself, but nowadays, I think its fine. Most guys are too shy to ask a girl to a dance, much less anywhere else.*

Just go with your girlfriends, unless you actually want to spell it out to the guy because I expect, unless he's a really close mate, he'll think you're asking him out as a date.

if you want to go with this guy, then ask him. it's not weird. but it's also not weird to go with your girl friends as a group. you should do whatever you want.
