My friend just graduated from LPN school! She received a gift from her aunt. Now you must understand she spent a year studying and getting up early for school, no job, just school. For a graduation/Christmas gift her parents and brother gave her a two week trip to Disney Land in FL. She left two days after graduation and reciving the gift from her aunt. When she came back from her trip, she was confronted with a not so nice note from her aunt in her stack of bills, christmas cards and monthly junk mail. What is the proper etiquette for this? Should she be offended and hurt or should she just send a thank you note asap? She wants to just send the gift back with a thank you note stating thanks but no thanks! Please if any one has any thing to enlightin us, please let us know. Thanks

My sister has a problem with a friend who won't leave the pooch at home. I think it's rude myself to bring it without asking so I would tell her straight out that I would perfer her to not bring her pup(one good turn deserves another) but she wants to know if there is a nicer way to go about it?

I am constantly noticing and getting annoyed with the state of society today. Just simple things that many folks I come across are either just oblivious or just don't care.
I always hold a door open for the person behind me, 6-7 times out of 10, the person will simply just walk right through it without a word. Like I am a doorman? Not taking the door from me. Other instances when you have a shopping cart in a store and someone has their cart blocking the entire aisle and not letting anyone through. I will stand there for a few minutes thinking they will see me, and they just continue without a clue or just continue ignoring me. Am I in the minority? Even if the aisle was empty and the store was empty I would automatically push my cart as far off to the side as possible to make sure anyone could get through if needed.
Do others notice these things? Sometimes when I am out I feel like I am the only one who holds doors open for people, says excuse me etc.

I have a teacher who uses the "he" as a defualt, instead of saing "they" or "he or she" I have never met anyone who speaks this way. It makes me feel as if he is intintionaly discriminating me. Is he being sexist or is it just because he's old? He has been teaching since 1970. BTW, what is the name of that rule, I've heard it in two English classes but it's just one of those things I can't seem to remember.

I would like to apologize to all the people, if I responded in any way, shape or form. It was not my intention to offended anyone in any way, shape, or form. As far as for the people who responded to my question in a negative way it doesn't affect me in any way. I am a realistic, and want to know how the people feedback are, because if you don't know others out there that are new to this system will eventually learn the hard way. I am not a whiner, I am just a simple person, with simple needs. I say what's on my mind, after all this is the united states which specify freedom of speech. The reason I speak my mind is to stay informed and others as well this is my personal way of helping others at this time. I'm a person who likes to help people in need and right now I am not able to, but soon I will be. So now I must close, and I hope that things will get straighten out. So people speak your mind if you don't you won't be heard. Don't be afraid after all this is the United States.

At any nude beaches, is it ok to:

offer to rub sunscreen on someone?
offer to scrub someone's back in a co-ed shower?
tell a female patron she's pretty?

...and it's all well and okay. But yet if a guy makes the same type of comments about his girlfriend or wife (saying "I don't let her do this" or "I never let her go there," anything along those lines), he gets pelted with accusations of being a chauvinistic pig.

I hate to be a complainer, but I don't see the logic. Sorry.

They always come in being so picky, having so much demand, and seem to always have a chip on their shoulder. I know some college buddies who "tamper" with their food, but i am not that cold hearted. Wages suck so bad it's not even worth doing stuff for them, but pays for bills in college. One day i will freak out and throw their food on the ground after they pay and walk out.

Our office Xmas party was a complete disaster. Sad thing is that everyone had been taking about it for weeks and how great it would be, what with the wide range of ethnic people (it really is like the UN with so many different nationalities). Everything was going fine, but when it was time to do select and eat the food a nasty fight ensued. Someone suggested to a Finnish man that he try some of the caesar salad, to which he replied "What, I don't eat rabbit food"...and went on and on about how it should have been a meat dish instead. The lady who made the food was in ear shot and actually took her hand and THREW a handful of the salad at the guy and went storming out of the room to the washroom. Half the party emptied to try to comfort her....the whole thing went down hill from there. People quickly ate and left........the office Xmas gifts were given out the next day by the mail clerk. Since then the morale in the office has been terrible. I guess all I can say about this is that you need to realize that little flare ups can occur when cultures mix. Too bad because it all seemed like such a good idea. I doubt we will have any celebrations at all next year. Anybody else have any experiences like this???

I have heard of stories where people have a shower and want the guests to pay at the door. Is that rude?
