It's not wrong at all.

Did you ask?

The immediate answer would be "yes", but think about this: why not get the bastard now while on the spot? They'll definetly stutter if they were coerced into not inviting you, if they didn't invite you for a valid reason they'll tell you right away. Why yes? I guess pride would make you ignore the whole issue. But pride also would make you realize that whoever is calling you from the party they didn't invite you to (and is probably asking for something for the same party), should have the decency to tell you why you were not invited.

No, I would definitely want to know and to clear up things in case there was a mixup. One time it happened to me because the person told another "friend" to ask me and she never did and lied that I was out of town and then someone else said I was in town and so they called me thinking that I didn't want to go in the first place.

It's not wrong, but why be so needy? If you are not invited, so what. Don't let them know you are so hard-up of their parties. You have better things to do.

Yeah, they obviously didn't invite you for a reason. Do you really want to know that reason?

And again, if you ever have to ask "Is it wrong?", it almost always is.

I wouldnt ask why they did not invite me. That is a cop-out and skirting the issue. I would let them know that."I'm disappointed I wasn't invited". If I am NOT disappointed it is lame to ask why not?
