If its just the one year anniversary, it wouldn't be appropriate. But if you have been married for several years (5+), you can drop several BIG hints or just go pick out your ring with him. My mom did it, and got her diamonds. But it was their 20th anniversary. She has put up with my dad for that long, so she deserved it. ;) Good Luck!!

Since you got the engagement and wedding ring, why not wear and enjoy them for another 20 yrs. Then get yourselves anniversary rings in place of the wedding rings which would be old and scratched by then. Something new is nice.

You could drop hints that you like a particular ring. You should never say, "I want an anniversary ring" since gifts like that should be given because your husband WANTS to give it to you, not because you demanded it. Be thankful for what you have and appreciate your husband, not the jewelry he buys you.

An anniversary ring was traditionally for the 25th anniversary, but people are getting them now on the 10th. I just hinted and hinted and hinted, and I got a beautiful one my husband chose. Nothing fancy, I just really wanted one.

How long have you been married? I don't think that you should get (or ask for) an anniversary ring until you've been married for at least 10 years.

He should be giving it to you on his knees and asking you if you think its a worthy enough ring for your finger. Any man who says you got enough is a very selfish and self-centered bloke. Tell him you'll accept the anniversary ring in exchange for all the sex you've given him so far. Hey! No ring = no sex!

On our planet asking for gifts is a sign of low-breeding.
It is considered rude and tacky but out of curiosity,
Does this person actually respond to that kind of behavior ?

It is an appropriate thing to ask. If he loves you and you are not asking the impossible, he should respect that that is exactly what you want. And, a gift should be something you want, not something they want you to have.

Yes it is inappropriate to ask for one. You never ASK for a gift.
