My sister has a problem with a friend who won't leave the pooch at home. I think it's rude myself to bring it without asking so I would tell her straight out that I would perfer her to not bring her pup(one good turn deserves another) but she wants to know if there is a nicer way to go about it?

I would ask as you talk to her before she comes over. "Oh, btw are you bringing your dog? He/She is a wonderful pet for you but I'm not comfortable with him. Do you mind leaving him at home when you come over to visit me at my home?"

The friend is rude to think that her pooch is allowed everywhere, who is she Paris Hilton??? Pets are best left at home or where they are specifically welcomed. I love animals, but I am a bit weary of seeing dogs trapped in cars in parking lots or snapping at fellow shoppers when they are brought into stores, or restaurants (amazing how often I see this).

She could lie and say that someone who will be at her house or lives in her house is allergic to dogs. I would be the nicest way without offending or making her feel embarrassed.

oh, how irritating that is. just tell the friend directly to leave her dog at home.

even worse fir those who bring their dogs to restaurants, shopping malls, or very crowded places.

"We're not really set up for dogs, so it's probably best if you leave Pookie at home."
