When I was a cashier I always greeted all my customers as nicely as I could. We weren't allowed to carry on a conversation with other employees - we had to pay attention to the customer. Now a lot of these young people just talk to you at the end when it is time to pay.

I tip well ... usually 18-20%, more if the service was phenomenal or the tab was real small. When I buy a wine with my meal I know I'm already paying almost triple what it cost the restaurant to buy that bottle. Quite often my tab for wine costs as much as the food. If the restaurant has a Sommelier or a Maitre d' that actually has wine knowledge and provided that knowledge as a service, that's one thing, bust most waiters have so little training on wines it is pathetic.

On the one hand I feel ripped off that I am giving the waiter this unnecessary windfall by tipping for the food AND the wine, when all they did was take the bottle I asked for from a shelf and remove the cork. On the other hand if I only tip for the food, do they think I'm being cheap and stiffing them on the tip.by giving a tip that appears to be 10%.or less.

I want to know what you think. But if you don't believe in tipping in general I doubt any wisecracks you make will be of much use to me.

Maybe they bring a drink, but other than that, the service is pretty minor. 5% 10%, 15%, 20%? Opinions welcome...

If so, do you worry about people tickling your feet? And does anyone ever actually do that to you?

I’m curious to know where the term “honky” came from & I know it is not the TV show The Jeffersons. Would it be very offensive for a non-Caucasian to call a Caucasian a honky?

I ahve been in both food service and as a delivery driver, I have never expected a tip, nor counted on it. No one should have to tip and in truth I think tips should be done away with. There is no way to truly rely on tips for income because it is not a garunteed thing. Why should someone pay a tip when an employer is already paying that person to provide a service. If the pay isn't high enough for one's personal standards shouldn't they ask for a raise or find a different job? What do you think about all this? I pay for a service and expect good service without having to pay extra for it, its the job the person chose, no one told them they had to do it. Why should I have to pay extra to be treated nicely, isn't there a "golden rule" do unto others... what is your take?

I wrote an email to someone I do not know real well, but have been talking to for a little while now. I addressed her with Mrs. because she used to be my teacher and she signed her first name when she replied. Does that mean I should call her by her first name or do I continue to use Mrs.?

He barks at them as a reaction to their squealing/shreiking/laughing when they see him, he's not barking because he's mad or wants to hurt them, he would never do that. But, the parents always seem irate about it and look at me as if I'm a terrible person who owns a vicious dog. What's a good way to respond to those people?

I talk a bunch of mess, but I can't fight. Plus, I like to wear cute, designer shoes that aren't good for running; and my petite behind can't haul all that fast any way. I keep my nails in a classic, short buff-to-shine style so I wouldn't have any problem throwing a punch-if I knew how. Currently, I just keep mace on hand.

What is the best way to defend myself? I am willing to pay for classes--not anger management ones though, mind you.

I am a guy that wants to dress up like a french maid and go into Hooters and have my picture taken. Do you think management willl let me. I think a pic like this would be a good conversation piece to hang on the wall.
