No, you were right, that was very rude and I hate it when they do that. However, instead or before walking out, you should have reported it to the manager. They should be aware that they are losing business due to this behavior & that they need to train their staff better.

No, you weren't wrong. What the heck was an employee doing on a cell phone on work hours? You should have stayed to complain to the manager though (still not to late to call the manager). And good for you for not buying anything there. If you don't tell the manager they may not be aware there is a problem. If the manager cares, they will want to know.

the fact is that cell phones are growing a foul rap. human beings blame cell phones for most stuff, which includes the cost that they are anti-social. the fact is that maximum human beings in a survey I study 2 years in the past pronounced that speaking on cell phones in a public changed into rude. the reason they gave for this habit being rude: because they couldn't hear the different fringe of the communique. They couldn't eavesdrop that's truthfully a rude habit. Cashiers are workers, they receives a fee to finish a service. the customer buys issues with money that pay the cashier's wages. the customer isn't obligated to be chatty with the cashier for the privilege of sorting out. however the cashier is obligated to attend on the purchasers. it really is their job.

Yes, if the sales clerk was on the phone with another customer, she could have acknowledged you and said something like, " I will be with you in a minute, I am helping this customer." That way you know that she is helping a customer that called in. If she was on her phone talking to a friend of hers, well you may want to call the manager or home office and report her. She is getting paid to assist you not talk to her friends, that's what 15 minute breaks and lunch hours are for.

Absolutely not! They are paid to give you customer sevice, and she was obviously not doing her job. You're right, it is rather rude. In fact, I even find it rude when customers are on cell phones while they check out at the grocery line... there's something very insulting in that, it seems... kind of like they don't acknowledge the checker as a real person worthy of their attention. I think cell phones are often used in inappropriate situations like that, and I wish people would just start living outside their little bubbles and be a little more polite!

Nope, you're not wrong at all. That was very rude, and you probably sure have reported her to her supervisor.

I work in a retail store, and our employees get in trouble for using cell phones anywhere other than outside of the store or in the break room.

(It is, however, equally rude for a customer to speak to an employee while the customer is on a cell phone.)

No and if I were you I would go back ask for her manager and tell him/her right in front of the girl what she did and how she is treating her customers. She was in the wrong and needs a job somewhere out of the public

Why was she on the phone at work in the first place?
Where i work we're allowed to have our cellphones, but only can talk on them while we are on break. I know how customers are on cell phones and trying to get their attention to have them pay, but not the employee.

You should have gotten her name and asked for the manager.

Hell naw you weren't wrong. You should have asked to speak to her manager. Cause if i were the boss on the clock, she would have gotten fired on the spot. You could call the store and report her and watch what will happen to her. Next time dont take **** from noone. There is always someone on op of that person.

It depends on situation. If you are busy in your cell with a different customer or dealing with important/urgent issues then it is justifiable otherwise the normal/casual conversaton should be off and customer should be taken care of. After all customer is god and they are always right.
