Bath sets!

They have a redeeming quality in that the thought is there, but they're sort of a cop out gift. People constantly buy women bath sets when they don't know enough about them to purchase anything else for them. I get these for Christmas from someone every year and I never use them. I don't have the time for lots of bubble baths and they usually come in scents I don't like.

A word of advice: Unless you know this woman is some kind of bath enthusiast or has a borderline unhealthy affinity for a particular scent, get her a gift certificate.

I know alot of OTHERS would think money is great, but I think money (as in GREEN CASH)is not a good gift---at least for me. I always end up spending it on something really mundane. So I think gift certificates are the better choice of the two if you can't figure out what to buy the person..

The funky old-lady scented soap, lotion set my MIL gave me. It smelled too bad to even regift. I actually took it home and threw it out.

I suspect it came from her late parents' house (there were a lot of unopened things they had received over the years and never used), but the 90-year old had the good sense not to use it either.

I, of course, think it is nice when anyone gives me anything, but I really don't like plain butter cookies. Also, no one really seems to like fruit cake.
