I've been completely barefoot for ten years but I'm 38, so I didn't start until well after school & college! However, we did do PE barefoot; that's the norm here in the Netherlands, indoor PE is normally taught barefoot. And no, kids here don't have a lot of foot fungus/athlete's foot! In summer we were allowed barefoot on the outdoor field too (nice grassy area, well-kept) but we could also wear shoes there, outdoors it was our own choice. In the gym no shoes were allowed ever, not even if you only had to go back in and walk across to pick up something you'd forgotten inside!
Oh, I went to one evening class in college barefoot, on a very hot summer day, it was art... but while the teacher didn't really mind several people said it was sorta weird and some even said there were laws against barefooting in public buildings (I went to college in the US -Colorado-; while barefooters in Europe are almost as rare as hen's teeth, people here don't believe barefooting is regulated by any laws or regulations). I didn't have the resources of the internet yet at the time so I thought they were probably right and wore flipflops the next time. But I wasn't a frequent barefooter yet at the time anyhow, when temperatures weren't in the 100's it didn't even occur to me as an option, since I had never met or seen anyone barefoot except in extreme hot weather, beach, pool etc. Only when I happened to find a barefooters group on the internet did I learn about people going barefoot in everyday life.

I haven´t gone to class barefoot, because I´m shy and I am also afraid about people thinking. If everyone in my university were barefoot, I would go barefoot too...

No.
But sometimes people wear sandals. That's close to being barefoot.
But seriously, I wouldn't go to class barefoot. What if someone tried to tickle my feet? They would have no protection, then.

I have gone to class in thong sandals and then taken them off in the middle of class. I've also had days where there was something in my shoe so I took it and the sock off in order to get whatever it was out.

No, I've never attended class barefoot and if you want to show your respect for your teacher, you won't either--unless that particular class happens to be on the beach!

Tried it in college. At that college (Caltech) it was a tradition. Lots of people went around barefoot.
There were a few rebels. One boy went everywhere on skateboard. One girl went everywhere with roller skates.

No way! I don't even go from my bedroom to the bathroom barefoot. Why would you, with all the cute and affordable slippers they make these days?

Yes, in fact my school is used to me being BF as my friends are and no one even mentions it any more. Sometimes someone will say "you don't have shoes on!" (like a cool day or if it's raining) and I say "no, and I don't have gloves on either!" Sometimes they get it.
