What age is considered elderly?

It's a frame of mind, and today's 60 and 70 year olds are young compared to people of that age from 20 years ago due to healthier lifestyles.

I would say that 90 is elderly!

(I have 2 friends in their early 80's and they are active and very young for their age and no way would I consider them elderly)

You might be an elderly person if...

...What you and your husband used to do twice weekly you now just do weakly.

...If you're a woman, you no longer worry if your bosom is pert and pointy, you just don't want it dangling below your belt.

...When you think of a "child doctor," you aren't thinking of a pediatrician, you're thinking about the doctor who saw you at the last appointment and hoping he was at least out of his teens.

...When you're describing someone in your department to the new college grad that was just hired, and you tell her that Mr. Patterson is "the older guy", and she patiently tells you that "everyone is older" than she is. And you realize she's including you.

...When you hear the young people in your department referring to someone as "that old coot," you're afraid it might be you.

...Kicking back and relaxing is more likely to involve an activity that involves snoring than roaring.

...You actually understand, and care about, the rules regarding Social Security and Medicare.

...You care more about whether the footwear you buy might land you in the hospital than whether it looks good or not.

...You start to take a real interest in the obituary page of your newspaper because you think someone you know might be in there.

...The pharmacist at the drugstore where you get your prescriptions sees you often enough to be on a first-name basis with you.

...The only time you ever get carded when you try to buy something is when you claim the senior discount on it, and you aren't getting carded for that much anymore.

...When you see a question about the elderly on "Yahoo Answers," and you know you've got to read it.

Cheers! ;-))

I'm 60 amd I don't feel elderly at all. I'm years away from retirement, I work rings around people at work that are 30 years younger than me. May in another 20 years I'll be elderly.

It would be a cheap shot to say 65, but I really consider someone elderly the minute that they give up physical activities, socializing, partying and when they start to vote Republican.

Those are dead giveaways....

Depends on how old you are now. LOL Social Security expects us to work productively until we are at least 62 HMMMM I would say that "elderly" is in the 80's, currently.

Edit: Hi Joy!!! My name is Joy also, unusual name, huh? Cant throw a stick without hitting an Emily these days.
