I wont name this charity, as it is not all that big, and I know it's legit.

100 bucks is a lot to me, and I never gave that much to them before. Not only did I give them a 100 dollar check that they promptly cashed, I also donated some materials to their historical archives....yet all I got was a receipt for the goods since I mailed it with a return receipt.

No thank you letter, not even one of those "dear John" type automatically generated letters with a fake signature...zip. I didnt expect them to go nuts over my donation, but I expected some kind of a acknowledgement other than nothing at all.

Do you think it's rude for someone to cash a check without thanking you, even if it's a charity?

One person pitches a fit, so everyone else has to suffer.....I mean like little kids proforming a xmas play, yet someone of a different religion, "oh no....that is not appropriate"....I mean c'mon....I am not catholic....I am a jew, and my kids did xmas plays in school, I did not get all bent out of shape...like some sacriligious event was happening....They are kids, they aren't going to be converted...It is just a play...I don't understand why some people have to get an attorney, cause "their rights..." what a crock of crap....People are too way uptight, to me, and just can't let kids be kids..got to get the "Politics" involved and I just think it is stupid....we have SO much bad stuff in the world, and little kids are told "no, you can't sing the song from the Charlie Brown Chrismas, cause' someone may be offended..."....I find that to be rediculous!!!!! and such a waste of time....Put that effort into changing something for the good...not stupid crap!!!!....Just my thoughts.........

Etiquette question . . . with no words or getures, how does a person ' signal ' that they are done eating while in a restaurant ? Wondering this, as I'm aware of this ' signal ' and many times it is not noticed by the waiter or they go on to ask "are you done eating " while it's been ' messaged ' by this signal that I clearly am not done eating. Even in finer restaurants this 'signal 'gets overlooked . . . so I'm wondering if most are not aware of this. This question is in the etiquette section...so sincere comments / questions only please.

A group of people and I were doing a thing where we anonymously give Christmas presents to each other. I picked the name of someone I don't really know well and don't particularly like but I gave some nice $5 chocolate.

I got a response that she was dieting and I must not have known it so she will serve it to her guests. No thank you or anything.

If it were you, would you write back, ignore it, forward it to the gift program coodinator and mention that you are declining to participate next year, or what? I feel it was uncalled for and mean after I spent money on this person and a long time picking out the gift.

Hmm, but maybe the best revenge is simply to use this as a motivation to work harder on my own diet so that I will end up looking waaaaay skinner? In fact, could this be the reason for the mean response (sour grapes)?

I have been taking ballet classes and performing with my friend for 5+ years. We are not friends outside of ballet because she's still in high school, and I'm a few years into college, but pretty good friends in class. We take class together 3 days a week. Her mother and grandmother are both seamstresses for my ballet company, and I like them all. Her father died suddenly the other night. Should I go to the funeral?

I've been really fortunate to have friends pass on clothing for our two boys. Some have been very generous and given us bins of great clothes. To thank them I've sent a $10 gift card to Target or Old Navy. We aren't rolling in the dough, hence the hand-me-downs, but I really want them to know how much I appreciate it. One even sends the clothes across the country. Is this enough? Any other ideas?

I was invited to one of my friend's parties on this Saturday and I told her I would come. It turns out one of my close family friends is having a huge religious function for his kids on the same day. My friends party is not for any occasion, its just a get together, which happen very often in my group of friends. I tried explaining to my family friends that I am busy on that day but I know its a really important day so I cancelled on my friend and told her I will go to the other party. I explained to her and told her why I was cancelling. Was that bad?

Is there a proper etiquette to thanking my boss? Should I send him a thank you card or is that too extream? Is it better to simply shoot him an email, or say it in person?

Well I always seem to have trouble talking to some people...even ones i know. I can talk to my best friends, etc. but it seems people who aren't really my close firends i have trouble talking to.

I can't seem to be able to build up the courage to ask some people a simple question......

And if I can't ask a simple question i ay not even be able to ask out this one person.

How can I build up the courage to talk to someone?
