Yes. As a matter of fact, a photographer for Marilyn Monroe said she took her time to answer those kinds of questions. Isn't that sweet.
I'm fine right now. Since I got to share a little fact with you. ;)
Have a Great Day/Night!

For the most part. Most of the time I feel fine, and that's how I answer, and then I ask my interlocutor how he or she is.
The only times I don't always tell the truth are those when I feel like hell.
In those cases I might say I'm "all right" or "good" or something less than "fine," but I don't say it in a way that calls attention to the fact that it differs from my usual response.

at the same time as a stranger asks, I continually use my default, that's some thing between "stunning!/magnificent! How are you?" i detect that human beings reply more beneficial to strangers who're joyful. With my actual acquaintances, i began answering actually about seven or so years in the past. It extremely threw off conversations at the same time as i began (decrease back at the same time as the hollow 4 lines of an target communication were "whats up" "whats up, what's up?" "nm, u?" "nm") Now my human beings are conscious of it, and that i like it this kind.

It depends who's asking, of course. If it's someone I know well enough to share my personal life with then yes I do answer honestly. Usually, I just take it as part of the standard greeting and give the standard fine-and-you? reply.

No, I always say I'm grand, or fabulous, or dandy. How are you is just another way of saying hello, if you ask me. Most people probably don't really care if you are doing poorly anyway. Plus, sometimes you can talk yourself into a good mood by telling yourself and others you are doing great!

How many people do you know that are really have a perfect life? All of us are going through problems in our life that a stranger would not understand. So why bother explaining what your problem is to a stranger. The list of problems would be too long. It is just easier to say "I'm doing fine" or "I'm doing ok" and move on.

Generally, yes. Of course I'm usually more "fine" than other times, but most of the time, I'm getting by okay.
I think what you're asking is if I give an extended answer. Usually not.

it all depends on what "happy" means.. usualy when someone asks how i am, i respond by saying "good" or something like that.. and when i think of "good" i think of good mood, and when i think of "good mood" i think of happy.. so basically for my answer to be honest, id have to be happy.. but whats happy? i know one thing.. if i was to say i felt shitty, i could back that up a lot quicker than if i was to say i felt happy.. that seems lame because i live a decent life.. my mom and stepdad make pretty good money, i live in a nice house, the "important things", they all check out.. but i mean am i really happy? nah.. and i want to mean this in the least stingy way possible, but im not really happy.. i could be wayyyy happier.. i want to live a life where someone asks me how i am and i can say Great!! with solid confidence.. i feel stingy thinking like this because it seems like i "should" be happy.. with what i have, and knowing that not everyone has it.. but i wouldnt say im happy

I know of a few people who will launch into a complete rundown of all their aches and pains and dr visits, what the dr said, medical tests and results ect ect ect. The correct and polite way to answer is to just say, "I'm fine, and how are you?"

It depends on who is asking me. If its a stranger then I always say "I'm fine" even if I'm not. If it's a friend or family member, then I honestly tell them if something is wrong. I'll say "I'm okay but I could be better."
