Is there a proper etiquette to thanking my boss? Should I send him a thank you card or is that too extream? Is it better to simply shoot him an email, or say it in person?

It's Christmas, a card will be nice.

When you walk by or something , just say " Iwanted to thank you for a wonderful evening, the christmas party was very well put together" and then say something like the food was great or the centerpieces were beautiful" If you send a card you may sound too much like a kiss *** but that's a personal opinion. hope this helps!

An EM will be out of the question as you does no longer choose all people else to get ahold of it. A small, lovable note or card with one small flower like a Gerber daisy will be very tasteful and score you lots extra factors in the route of yet another one!!!

I'd recommend a fairly informal thank-you in person. Email might be OK. I would probably not give him a card.

Drop him a handwritten note. It is both personal and elegant. Do more than just sign it. Write some details about how you had a great time, and it was great to get to spend some time chatting, not talking shop. Wish him happy holidays, and thats it.

I think a thank-you card is always appropriate, but an in-person thanks would probably be fine.
