no - maybe its uncomfortable or hard for them to do it.
if they are sitting wide open and i can see their undies, then yeah its kind of rude.. but if they are closed, who cares.

It's only rude if they're showing their underwear(or, in the case of a certain celebrity I know, none). Otherwise it's not a big deal. Plus, it's not healthy to cross one's legs at the knees(bad for circulation), and can be hard for some. As long as you're not being vulgar, who really cares how people sit?

I find it rude if they are sitting with they legs spread wide open; that's just tacky. There are some women who are too fat to cross their legs at the knee. In that case I think crossing your legs at the ankles in just fine. As a child i was told it was inappropriate for a girl to cross her legs at the knees.

As long as the woman's legs aren't splayed open with her underwear on view, it's fine to: 1. cross at the knees; 2. cross at the ankles; or 3. just keep their legs together and parallel from knees to ankles.

No. In fact I find women who cross their legs at the knee rude. My grandmother was very old school Welsh and "ladies always have their legs together with their ankle crossed! Never the knees!".
Watch the "Princess Diaries" with Julie Andrews. There's even a reference to ladies always crossing their legs at their ankles.

To cross the legs at the knee is classically considered rude and vulgar. A lady crosses her ankles and keeps her knees together.

Some us women who have big thighs cannot cross our legs at the knees. Proper etiquette then is to cross at the ankles.

NO!!!....According to who? What? The book of female etiquette? Puleeeeeeze! Do you find men who do not cross their legs at the knees rude???? When I was in grade 8, back in 1960, we had a teacher who taught us how to sit and stand and walk like a "lady". Hell....Even in 1960 I thought she was a nut case. Absolutely no. NOT rude!!!!
ps I attended an all girls high school ergo the "Female etiquette" teacher.

Crossing your legs at the knees in public is rude. A lady should cross at the ankles. Don't believe me? How many Political, royal or Celeb. hosts and News anchors have you seen cross at the knees? They don't. It's too blatently sexual.
