If my restaurant tab is $100 plus $8 in tax, and I leave a $15 tip... will the server interpret that as a 15% tip? Am I stiffing the waiter if I leave tip of 15% on the pre-tax amount?

I'm not asking if 15% is the right amount to tip... you can use any percentage as an example. I really want to know... Do you figure the percentage based on the amount with or without tax?

1) A woman is biting a man and won't let go (which could give him a disease)

2) A woman is bending one of the man's fingers back and is attempting to break it

3) A woman is squeezing a man's private area and won't let go

4) A woman is seriously attacking a man, and she's a martial artist, so he can't restrain her. Assume she's faster than him or has him cornered so he can't run away.

5) A woman is attacking a man and is trying to seriously injure him, and she's bigger than he is, so he can't restrain her.

Is it ok for a man to punch a woman in self defense in some or all of the above circumstances? And, what would you do if you saw a man hit a woman in one of the above situations?

My ex husbands grandmother recently passed away. I am not on very good terms with his parents since I am the one who wanted the divorce. Would it be proper to send his parents a sympathy card?

It is nice to see that there are still people out there whom you dont even know that are prepared to devote a few moments of their time to a complete stranger. I have asked a few questions on here and to the majority the answers are informative and sincere. It restores my faith in the human race a little.I would love to invite you all over for a party but for now keep up the good work and god bless you all.

I went to a private school that had only one African American student.

Today I took my daughter to the roller rink and met a very nice African American lady with a daughter the same age as mine. We talked while our girls skated together all afternoon.

My question is this; Would she be open to my pursuing a friendship? I am not sure if that is welcomed or if it was a case of "I was just o.k. to talk to at the skating rink but don't ask me to go shopping and to lunch because you are caucasian" or "don't invite my child over to play...

How do you feel about having caucasian friends?

Since I moved to my new house, my old friends have stopped calling and coming round. I dont get to see them that often now as I moved 20 miles away. I just get the feeling that there is something not quite right. There are some snidey comments about being a snob and forgetting my roots. We all grew up together in Ireland and the majority of them still live in north london. Is it wrong to move away from people you love just to give your family a better life? I dont regret it but I wish I wouldnt loose my friends over it.

First of all you don't know where they have been, what they have toached. I am not a health fanatic, but my hands are clean when I am eating. O yea! I could get back up and go wash again when they finished socializing..

...if your boyfriend/girlfriend asked you to sign a pre-nup to get married?

I know it is a common thing to do, but I think it is rude. People should know each other well enough and not be thinking of the bad side of things when it comes to the future.
(Doesn't seem to evoke powerful, loving thoughts for the future, in my opinion.)

Every day I see empty headed neanderthals slowing down traffic, nearly killing people and bumping into other people's cars while they are parking. Should the federal, state and/or local governments make it totally illegal to talk on the phone while driving? What do you think? And YES I have a cellphone I just choose NOT to use it while driving.

I really hate that! You are not my lover... please don't call me an endearing term. I am not your B*ch slave. And you are not better than me. It's a sick control game to me. People say it when they're assuming that they are smarter than you or older than you. What do you think about it?

All day i have seen questions, answers and comments from people having a go at others for not being as well educated as they are. Does this not amount to bullying.........Everyone should be encouraged to join in and not be offended by " experts " who im sure are totaly Faultless in anything they do.........

It is my anniversary and they left me their kids to take care of and I am flat broke to boot and the kids are used to getting what they want when they want it. I love my best friend but ever since my weekend started, I and my wife have been pulling our hair out trying to cope with this awful situation. If they could have even left a small amount of money it would have been a little less painful but I went to the extent of borrowing cash against my credit card to entertain them this weekend. I have nothing to do about the situation right now but some advise on how to handle the situation when they get home would be much appreciated. I gave up my Labor Day weekend which is also my wedding anniversary weekend. I gave up reservations at a fancy restaurant downtown and gave up going on a motorcycle ride with my wife as well. What should I say to my friend when he gets here to pick up his kids? Do I let it slide or address it? Any advise will be listened to..
