I just ignore them, they have a superiority complex, and obviously have nothing constructive to say. Just call them the glorified spellcheckers!!!! Some of us can spell and use the correct grammar, but we prefer to answer the question as quickly as we can!

I've seen numerous complaints about spelling but none about grammar. Poor grammar might be the result of someone not being brought up in the US (although if they learn the language, one would assume that somewhere in the process there would be a few grammar lessons) but the spelling is so hideous that it is, at times, very difficult to figure out exactly what the question is. And at times it is downright impossible.
This has nothing to do with education. This has to do with common sense. There is a spell checker at the top of the message box. If there isn't one at the top of the 'additional comment' box, that isn't really so important as it is used infrequently and the message I'm talking about is the main message.
Surely hitting the spell checker isn't that difficult?

Poor spelling and grammar makes reading difficult, in fact it can make it impossible to know what a person is trying to say. I wouldn't correct anyone who can't use language properly. Whether it is a form of bully or not depends on how the comments are made. Spelling shouldn't be a problem when a spell checker is included with the question and answer responder.

The process of asking questions and answering them relies quite a lot on the individuals grasp of the language they are communicating in. It's not about people showing off. People shouldn't have to dumb themselves down to be accepted by the illiterate among us. Here in the UK, we are fortunate that most of the education (to a certain degree) is free unlike other places. In spite of this, the quality of the spelling and grammar here doesn't appear to show the sort of standard that one would expect from this country. I, for one, am proud to be British although I'm a 'British Asian/Indian'. I can think of no better way to show a lack of respect to this nation (our home) than by destroying our language. I think all those people that insist on persistently using SMS style 'Dopey Talk' should lift there socks up. Don't pretend to be from "DA Street wiv yo' homeez!" if you live in a pebble dashed, suburban house in a leafy lane in Any Town! I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this.

I think that I tend to correct people because English has always been a strong point for me and it can be a little irritating to myself if I just ignore poor spelling.
I find it encouraging when people correct me, as I increase my spelling and vocabulary and I become a more competent speller. I think that we all continue learning, especially me as I am, at 19, still considered young.
Maybe it is not the correctors who are unfair, but the attitude of the Internet users who are receiving the corrections. Maybe you should use this as a learning experience.
I do think when correctors are harsh it unfair and unnecessary, and bullying is terribly wrong.

Because it just tee's me off that billions of our tax dollars are dumped into the school system with the end result of people not being able to spell, add 2+2 or complete a simple sentence. The education system in this country is the laughing stock of the world!!!!!!!!!

No sir. It's not bullying. But to make your point grammatically, you must be able to grasp the use of proper grammer. Your mind is a wondrous tool with no limits to where it can take you. Though I'm not an expert, I'm a "C" average student with a short attention span.I just watched "School House Rock" a few too many times, lol.

i think that it comes down to this
when you are trying to argue against faith with science and logic but you type like this......wat dont you aknowledge dat Jesus not real.....then you show that you are not a person that has any real education, or scientific background.
it makes it really hard to take a person seriously when they write in sentences that are almost impossible to read and you have to sound out half of their words to even know what they are saying.
also someone typing like this or speaking like this in a group of people that are into philosophy are going to be eaten alive.
my spelling and grammar are really not that good, but i make an attempt to spell correctly and to at least use some punctuation.
i have not received insults for bad grammar and spelling on yahoo answers yet. because i make an effort to write in a legible manner.

Yes it is, people make spelling errors all the time. I guess people who use the spelling check on Microsoft word are uneducated too. But it also depends on the severity of it. For example awhile ago someone wrote,"Doesn't they sees that wes are the smartest?" Now that was stupid.

Unfortunately it falls under proper Netiquette.
People want to be understood & when asking a question or waiting for a response, you may not get feedback if your not understood.
Also, not everyone IMs or texts so abbreviations you think are universal & timesavers may not be for everyone.
While creative license & creativity are great its when & where they're used that is a gray area.
Where the masses are spell it out.
IM/texting/MySpace - "thatz up 2 u!" ;)
