First of all you don't know where they have been, what they have toached. I am not a health fanatic, but my hands are clean when I am eating. O yea! I could get back up and go wash again when they finished socializing..

Carry Purrell and discreetly use it after your friends leave the table. Saves a trip to wash your hands. I hate shaking hands with people too. I prefer a friendly nod or to bow like the Japanese. Too bad that hasn't caught on here!

Yeah. I'm just not a big fan of the handshake. I wish it weren't so socially necessary, especially in business circles. I absolutely HATE it at church during flu season. I actually read an article once that said hugging would be healthier. We need to keep our hands to ourselves.

You answered your own question. It would not be worth offending your friends to refuse shaking their hands. Why not carry a bottle of hand sanitizer in your pocket? You are correct that a lot of germs are passed around by shaking hands. Lucky you that you have so many friends.

I don't shake anyones' hand, I never know what they have touched. I agree with the person that said something about shaking hands in church, that is gross too.
I'll tell you something else that bothers me is when you go to the grocery store and half to put your hands on the handle of the shopping cart. gross who knows who has touched it before I did.

This is why you can just leave the cloth hand wipe on your leg./ lap and just clean your hand on it after you sit back down. No-one notices as you do it under the tablecloth & under the table.Do it casually and don't make a spectacle of your self, lol .

Yes, it would bother me. Also, I wish they would discontinue handshaking in church. Too many men do not wash hands afer using the bathroom (yuk), and then there are those who pick their nose and cough in their hand. Guess we should always carry a good supply of purell.

it is unavoidable you fool go wash your hands & get over it where has your g friends/b friends mouth been before she or he kisses you? With an attitude like that you probabally have no friends or a g friend/b friend. You should be gratefull someone even socializes with you.

This is what you do: when you see them coming over, tell them that you're eating and that you don't want to have to get up and re-wash your hands again. It's just being honest...

It used to bother me until I started doing that... and trust me, they won't get offended unless you say it to them rudely.

No, not really. I just eat the germs with the rest of the food. BTW, who knows what goes on with the people who prepare your food? You don't.
