YES. I was almost killed one day because a woman on a cell phone with a dog on her lap hanging it's head over the steering wheel tried to pull onto a busy highway in front of me. I never answer my cell phone while I'm driving. I always pull over or return the call when I get where I'm going. What can we do? Let's start to make changes.

I think that people should be given more information on the safety of using cell phones in those cases. I mean they have brief safety shows about many other things and I believe that this has been on the TV and news before of course, but it needs to be revisited and more awareness put out there to help others understand that this is a danger.
I don't think it should be illegal, because then, choosing to drink a soda or change the radio might be next--anything that distracts the driver. People just need to know when it is appropriate and safe to make the call and when to put down the phone. Maybe if the person is wreck-less and the cell phone as a distraction was a cause of the wreck or whatever, then there could be some sort of penalty or fine added to the report but that would be difficult to prove and I don't know if that would be adequate.

I used to not care. Then there was a time when I was without a car and I rode a bike around. During that time I nearly got killed at least once or twice a day by people talking on their cellphones and not paying attention to the road. It was a real eye opener for me (as I use a cellphone too).
Now I'm not exactly opposed to using a cell phone when and if you really need to, but for goodness sakes, pay atention to the road and whatever else is going on around you. The mistake lots of people make today is they get wrapped up in their own little worlds and forget the universe does not revolve around them.

It's a $500 fine in Georgia. I agree totally. The only time I use my cell phone driving is when I say "I'm driving..I'll call you back when I get home"

Yes and no. Yes, cellphones are distractions especially while driving, and therefore, more accidents are ocurring. On the other hand, it can save lives too, because when people are stuck in sudden dangerous situations, they pull out their cellphones and call for help. =^^=

Cell phones like many new inventions should be outlawed. They are just excuses for someone to make money, and do more damage than they contribute in a positive way.

i agree with you 100 percent , i feel they are just as much of a threat on the rode then a drunken driver because the driver on a cell believes they are 100 percent capable of driving while doing so and are probably every bit as dangerous
